Who said turn-based combat is dead. One of the best games I've played, and easy GOTY for 2025

Having gotten all achievements for this delightful game, I am comfortable in saying it is a worthy remake of the original. The original Persona 3 was already my favourite game in the Megami Tensei series, but this remake take's the best qualities of that game (Story, characters, and music) and expands upon them, creating the best way to experience the wonderful game of Persona 3. Would recommend.

It's definitely my new favorite Yakuza game, with a stupid amount of content, and a genuinely great story. Having Ichiban and Kiryu both be protagonists works super well, and switching between them each chapter reminds me a lot of 0, which is a good thing. Moreover, the new Hawaii setting is great, even though using dollars as a currency in a Yakuza feels cursed.

The turn-based combat has been drastically improved since 7. At the point it'd make going back to 7 feel like so much is missing. Just being able to move characters around in combat makes such a drastic difference. The new jobs are great, and everything feels satisfying and punchy.

The new side content is even better. The business mini game this time around is basically Animal Crossing and it's super fun and silly. Customising the island with ridiculous decorations to boost your sales is prime gaming. Catching fish/bugs to fill out compendiums, and upgrading your tools is also a blast. Beyond that, there's also a Pokemon side mode where you have to collect 4 badges from different elite trainers. But instead of Pokemon, you use local homeless crack addicts to fight for you.

The new exclusive characters are also great, 3 new party members, and all the old ones from 7 return (excluding Eri but she was optional anyways). Moreover, the story does a great job at tackling previous plot points from across the series. Past characters from Kiryu's life appear in abundance.

Speaking of Kiryu, they do an amazing job continuing his character. His appearance feels a lot different, featuring more as a prominent side character, and for the first time, exclusively operating with a group. Which narratively makes sense, as he finally replies to those around him when tackling new threats. Ichiban is also great as always, having some of the best moments in the series.

I'm going to conclude this review early for everyone's sake, but really it's Yakuza at its highest point in terms of quality, and the fact not everyone has played it is criminal.

Ichiban/10

(PS. Yeah Sega is stupid and greedy for charging for NG+)

Love the game - getting the "Good Christian Boy" achievement will kill me.

Beyond that and some elements that make replaying the game in marathon mode annoying, it does a phenomenal job conveying a sense of psychological horror with Atari era graphics. Expertly using sound design, uncanny imagery, and rotoscope animation to scare the player. I understand it might not be for everyone, but if you love psychological horror, as opposed to jump scare simulators, Faith is perfect!

Honestly a extremely unique way to build up hype for a game, as well as put in some sneak peaks for unannounced games. It just has this charm to it and I love it
