The DayZ team has done an excelent job starting out on an epic journey to change the Arma engine to work exactly as they need it to for DayZ. The game already feels better than DayZ in many aspects and with further refinement it's going to really shine. I love the new aspects of wearable gear and clothing. The quality of the art is vastly improved. General movement feels much better as well.

Even in its early state, DayZ is already just as good as I had expected.
