Fun with friends, but needs more gameplay depth and stability improvements.

They keep opening their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ connect app whenever they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feel like it and it keeps screwing me over whenever it decides to open in the middle of a fight. Ubisoft is a braindead company whose only purpose is to spoil any fun you're having with their third party ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. "Oh, you want to uninstall Ubisoft Connect:tm:? Well friendo, it might hurt the game experience!" LITERALLY ♥♥♥♥ OFF.

The game itself is pretty fun tho

UPDATE: Ok, if you can put up with all the BS the publishers pull and occasional bad writing, there are actually a few golden moments in this game. Actually worth it if you get it on sale and have friends to play with.

They merged the PC and Console codebase but for some reason decided to merge everything to the console side. Now the game is ass and me and my friend just lost a 2 hour run because of some infinite damage BS that lagged the game to the point of crashing.

Unless Gearbox does something to fix this, this game is certainly going to perish.

They somehow added more bugs to things that were already working. The music and survivors are fine I guess, but it feels a bit lacking when compared to the Survivors of the Void DLC.

Unlike any other game I've seen. The game gives you an ambient world just waiting to be explored. Finished in just under 2 hours, but definitely something I'd replay. 10/10

Stopped playing a long time ago because progression practically required a premium account

Early Access Review
Underneath all the bugs and performance issues, there is an excellent game; however, do not purchase the game if you are expecting a fully stable or feature complete game. In the current early access state (2/24/2023) the game is really only for hardcore KSP 1 fans or those wanting to help with the development process by reporting bugs and suggesting features.

I will definitely update this review throughout the Early Access period, as I'm sure future patches will resolve the numerous issues being seen at launch.

Almost amazing, but FDev keeps shooting themselves in the foot by making things WAY too grindy.

The Odyssey expansion is currently a minimum viable product. While Frontier has technically delivered what they promised, it isn't in any playable state, as it isn't optimized and is lacking depth of content. Wait and see what happens in the next 6-12 months and maybe get it if it improves.

Edit: 12/11/2022

It is now 6-12 months later and it's still bad. Honestly, go play Star Citizen if you want a better experience, because somehow that game is more complete and stable than this mess. Framerates are still abysmal, even on higher end machines, and there isn't much to really do on-foot that makes meaningful contributions to your ship or vice versa.

There haven't been any meaningful content additions in the time since release, and the entire on-foot experience feels like a completely different game, with no significant crossover of interactions between players/NPCs on ships vs on the ground. Without any meaningful connections between ship and on-foot content, can they really even be considered the same game? While you can still make credits on foot, the payouts for anything you could do are far less than what is achievable in a ship, and any engineering materials you need for ships are unattainable on-foot. What results from this is a completely separate game loop that is completely dominated by ship based gameplay in terms of profitability, so there isn't really a need to do anything on foot unless you just want to be able to swap to an FPS game that takes place in the same universe.
