Amazing feedback loop. From the little sound designs you might miss all the way to the fluid animations, this really ups the retail simulation slop games we've been seeing. For $16, it's a nice simple game to get into. You can tell the developers paid attention to detail.

There's only one major flaw I've found so far with the game: the employees. First time I unlocked them and hired one he asked for a raise the moment he walked in and I said no. So he quit. Queue employee #2 being hired, comes in, asks for a sick day. Mind you, I just unlocked employees and haven't even started the day yet and my first experience is not having one after hiring them. They need to tone down the amount of negatives that employees bring, that is NOT a fun experience in a simulation game.

I don't think it's good game design to spam punish a player for automation (employees). Fortunately, the rest of the game is well polished and makes up for this oversight. Hope a future patch balances the employees better in a FUN way but still something you have to manage.

I 100%'ed my balls, now throw me into the pit.

Ball x Pit is a perfect mashup of rougelike and brick breakers. Fondle your balls as your launch your geometric enemies to the local McDonald's ball pit. Watch them bounce on your enemies while they chant in pleasure.

The balls themselves have one issue: When they get too fast the physics does not matter anymore and they just fly back to you. Kinda lame IMHO. Besides that, the evolutions are nice! Albeit truthly, the easiest and most effective way of beating any level is just AoE. Single target balls do not win when the enemies flood the map. Lost too many games trying to force a more single target build. Same with any balls or item that gives the ghost effect. Just don't for most builds. You want to be able target the enemies closest to you by bouncing off them, not going through them once and praying the ball comes back in time.

Best combo: Flash or Lightbulb fused with Evergrowth. You will nuke the entire map 24/7. Very easy to force with banish and re-rolls.

My only real compliant is the town building section feels so... unnecessary. I would just build a small portion of essentially a race track and get all my materials and more while shoving the other useless buildings into a corner till I need to upgrade them. Which just was just placing it inside the middle of the track. Some of the buildings do have a real purpose (adds scalfolding points, gold, exp, you get the point) but it really just isn't needed.

The most frustrating portion of the game was getting the AI character to beat certain levels (heaven level!!!). The AI just does not dodge or shoot at the projectiles that track the player. I watched multiple times as they stood there and died to a million arrows. Or they stood on fire and slowly perished. With that said, I did use the character to AFK beat fast++++ levels just to get bonus points on my trophies.

All in all a solid 8/10 game. Here's to hoping new content comes soon as too many levels felt similar and boss fights were way too easy. But balls do bounce.

My 4090 cannot handle the bounce. It can only mimic it in 4K 244 FPS. I need to render this irl. Please Akihiko Kayaba.

I love killing noobs who think stealing at the last second is the only way to win. Defense is the easiest thing when you don't sit on the cashout like a donkey. Love this game. Try stroking the cashout off less and invoke some strategy that doesn't involve sitting in one place. (or don't so I can pad my stats)

I live for the company. I smile for the company. I buy a shower for the company. I die in said shower with a smile as the emptiness of space becomes my company. Long live the company!

TL:DR - Spend your money on a game where the devs care about player input and the players feedback isn't biased because their favourite streamer is catered to.

You know what this game really needed? Another port to slow the already crippling development down to a halt. Riddled with bugs where each major updated is constantly followed a list of multiple bug fixes that only continue to create more bugs. Don't forget the delays! Oh, not the communicated delays, I mean how the devs only announce the delays right before the update is supposed to happen! Now that is the "communication" we the players love!

How about we just open source this game already, let the dev stick to his vision by crippling the game's development as he sits on a mountain of cash and allow the community to fix all the bugs. Come on devs, pull a Bethesda so the community can fix the game for us. Look, we promise not to mod your game, only fix the bugs. I know there's a nerd out there that can single handily fixed all your issues with one Hotfix mod and not the parade of bug fixes y'all do in-house. AND LOOK we know which dev is very stingy, so that one nerd can even work for free!!! Oh oh oh! The community is also willing to create custom models and maps just for you!!!! NOT A DIME NEEDED.

At least I got my money's worth from this flaming piece of turd. If you want a game where you'll get your money's worth, but be barraged with delusional fans and a deranged developer that wants to stick to his vision no matter what, buy it. But I'll never forget how the new shop was so poorly designed that both the devs and fans defended it for months only for it to now be announced it is going to be re-worked because surprise, it was dodoo all along. Let's not mentioned how delays kept getting longer and longer only for them to mention they want to and are now porting it to console while their VR port is still a clobbered mess. Logical choice making right there.

Beautifully crafted game. It isn't complete yet, but that's not a reason to knock it off. It is one of the few early access games that came out recently that does not deserve to be memed on. Engaging and fluid combat mixed with a badass soundtrack. The combat isn't all there is either, as the writing and voice acting deserve a mention as well. I managed to beat the game in 13 hours with one weapon.
~~
PROS = Combat, God Boons, events, writing, voice acting, progression, art
NEUTRAL = Armour system, melee vs range builds effectiveness, late game scaling
CONS = Enemy variety, set levels (personal preference, but it makes the replayability a bit lackluster as you already know the upcoming level layouts; it does add charm and lore however)
