The Elder Scrolls is a franchise that we are all familiar with to some extent I think. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is its predecessor and to many people, a better gaming experience. I personally agree whole heartedly and here's why.

Questing:
TES IV: Oblivion has incredible diversity in its quests. Both in stand alone quests and in depth quest lines. The Thieves Guild is a riveting tale that you become an unlikely hero in. The Dark Brotherhood is a tragic story of rise and fall with the eventual discovery of your importance in their faction. In the Arena you watch yourself go from underdog to grand champion to win the love and adoration of the thousands of inhabitants of the Imperial City. Questing in TES IV feels much more alive and immersive than the cookie cutter repeat quests of TES V.

Customizable Experience:
The path you take is entirely yours to choose, as in all TES games. Oblivion stands apart in my opinion because of your innate ability to succed as a player even if you choose to completely ignore seemingly essential quest lines. Not only that, but your character skills are a direct result of how you play, not just what you feel like grinding at the time. Customizable spells and enchantments make each character a powerhouse in their own regard.

DLC:
From the Knights of the Nine to the Shivering Isles, every item of DLC for TES IV is extremely high quality. Brand new stories that provide new pieces of lore and a way for your character be an unlikely hero in a story he doesn't belong in. Even the DLC housing is incredible. Abandoned castles and magical towers hidden in the mountains, there is something for every type of player. Storage options are limitless and the houses feel like he have history to be discovered within them.

The Main Story:
The daedra are a pretty big part of every TES game. Oblivion has a huge involvement because of the main story. It provides a lot of insight into what the daedra are doing when they aren't causing havoc in the real world. Oblivion gates are opening everywhere and someone has to figure out why and how to stop them. Why not you?

In conclusion, the game has an indescribably fantastic feeling of progression and uniqueness for each playthrough. The game itself was ahead of its time in most regards including the size of the world, the variety you have available to you, and the addition of large amounts of lore through immersive DLC.

Overall 10/10 game. Highly reccommended to any RPG lover.
