I've seen a lot of reviews and statements about this game, good and bad, but I'd like to think I'm able to come to my own conclusions.

I'd like to preface, I am playing on Mouse & Keyboard, so any opinions I have are either worthless and to be discarded, or held on a pedestal due to the torture put into my 8.5 hours so far. I also put all my time on the original Meat Boy in on a keyboard as well.

I really like it, I'm 4 of 5 worlds in, and only just starting to struggle with any of the games mechanics or controls. I gave up on A+ ranks and bandage collection for now, and haven't touched most Dark Worlds yet.

The level design was really solid on the first three worlds, but I think it fell apart after that. I also think the 1:1 recreation of Level 1 from The Kid's warp zone in SMB is a very bad thing, especially given they didn't use normal spikes, but a rotating drill bit, which creates the most disorienting migraine inducing cortisol-spiking level I've played ever. Even the original didn't feel this bad because everything was stationary.

The cutscenes aren't exactly on par with Edmund's original sense of humor but I think that's okay. Team Meat has been without him for some time and I don't think the product being exactly how he would've done it should be expected. This game was also developed by the creators of Ben & Ed as far as I've been told, which is it's own [amazing] game with a different grasp on "plotlines".

The environments can be frustrating but given that I don't tend to try and 100% these games, just beat levels, I think it's manageable. Meat Boy itself also had this issue so I don't see a problem with it.

I'm gonna state the obvious and say this is an immaculate step towards a better Meat Boy future from SMB Forever. That game was not to my standard, at all, I refunded it 5 minutes in.

I'm so excited for the SECOND set of pantheons to dwell on and get mad over!

My friend keeps crashing on transition to day 2 after surviving the night. This has only happened with a 2nd player in the lobby
