After watching the cinematic abomination that is, "Return to Silent Hill", I just had to revisit this game in order to prevent myself from spiraling into a deep depression.

This is definitely a "corrupted" forest. I could've bought a donut for $2, but instead I bought this map, and now I have no donut and depression. Thanks.

Early Access Review
Okay, so even after 180 hours in this game I still don't know everything about it. I literally just learned that because of the poor AI (this is the Unity's fault), you can set up a foundation and if you stand on it, bears or whatever animals can't get to you.

Now, the concept of the game is rather simple, you spawn with nothing but a rock and a torch, and really there is no concrete goal except to survive. You can choose to play through different playstyles, if you want to go gather all your materials yourself and build yourself a little house, you can do that. If you want to craft a bow or spear and start killing people for their supplies, you can do that as well. It's up to you what you do, who you become allies with, and if you play solo or as a team with friends.

I have to say that in my short time playing this game over the last 3 months, I've met many, rather interesting people in this game. I've definitely made lots of friends the people you find, I believe is what gives this game life. There's other games like this, such as Stranded Deep where it's just a long grind of swimming from island to island, building a shelter, and surviving. Also DayZ which I've played briefly at a friends house, and it seems just like running non-stop and both of these games have a sense of isolation, and you just kinda hope you run into people. Back to Rust, generally you'll find that in a lot of servers people can be found everywhere, not only that but people often team up in groups, and sometimes full clans are made with monsterous bases that tower over everything else. Allies are made, and so are enemies which makes the game so much fun.

****Side Note****
This game is alpha still, and of course it isn't perfect yet. The game runs poorly on most people's systems due to the fact it's not quite optimised just yet. Optimisation is rumored to start closer to the final release of this game, which may be another year or two. It's just not something thats a top priority right now and there's other things to work on too. So just be aware of that if you want to purchase it now. Just as an idea of what I use to run the game, I have an i7-4790k, GTX 970, and 16gb of RAM and I run at about 80-90 frames on some servers with maxed out settings, and other servers I get drops down to as low as 15-20. To add to that, large gun fights usually bring things down as well, you can be running at a solid 60fps and drop down to 10 if you get in the middle of a gunfight.

Another thing, a microphone, although it isn't required to play it, I would highly recommend one. Communication plays a big part in this game, it can mean the difference between life and death sometimes. If you can make yourself seem friendly, then there's a good chance not everyone will shoot on sight. But if you're quiet, nobody can really tell what your intentions are. Of course there is a chat box to type in, but if you're being chased, you won't want to stop to type.

I have to say, this game was suprisingly good! If you have two hours to kill and you want something new to play, then give this a try.
