Game crashing every so often for absolutely no apparent reason. occasional performance issues...

Randy's excuse? is just to blame the USERS PC for bad optimisation and UE 5's bad performance.

According to crash dump files, after analysing in windbg i get

fundamentally the crashes aren't my systems fault.

Originally, my favourite video game was the legend of zelda wind waker, but clair obscur expedition 33 has taken that spot.

Gameplay wise, its fun. I originally didn't intend on grabbing the game due to it being turn based and QTE. but i am glad i did pick it up. Art/graphic wise? its probably one of the most beautiful games i've played. as for the OST? yeah, they smashed that out of the park.

i cannot recommend this game enough for people to pick up if you're interested in the game.

With the amount of playtime i have i can't really give any pros or cons in terms of gameplay.

however the games performance is bad, i'm above recommended system specs and i will consistently get massive frame drops from 60 FPS down to 1 FPS that lasts 5 seconds every time. another issue i have with this is that when it happens in the game my PC will suffer from abnormal performance issues. the frame drops will carry over into other games as well.

I do not recommend this game.

on one hand you got bugs threatening our managed democracy, the other hand you got the automatons also threatening our managed democracy.

We must show them that managed democracy is the only correct way in the galaxy.

The above is still true, however my review has been changed to negative because forcing people to make a playstation account game to play a game that's on STEAM is woefully bad practice.

i personally already had an account so i had no issue with doing so, but forcing people to MAKE one is a big fat NO.

UPDATE: sony walked back their decision to force PSN accounts and have allowed helldivers to re-enlist to dive for super earth.

I rarely play survival type games like this, and boy am I enjoying this greatly.

it's like ark when it comes to building, like pokemon when it comes to capturing.

10/10 recommend if you're into these types of games.

The game is fun, I've encountered very few bugs and the ones I've encountered weren't major, they were just some silly homer going in the hedges bugs or floating up into nothingness or going down into the abyss.

There's a lot of content/side quests to grind though.
I recommend doing the main missions up until short sighted, due to (spoiler warning) a power you unlock is locked behind a companion quest (Barrett) as the mission (high price to pay) kills a companion with the highest relationship level with you

you'll eventually finish the game and enter new game+ however, you should do all side quests and activities before moving onto ng+ if that is what you wish to do.

overall, i do recommend playing the game but i also recommend picking up some QoL mods.
such as
Starui
Neutral LUTS
compact mission UI

and because the game isn't optimised like todd howard claims.

in the current state that this game is in i personally wouldn't recommend picking it up until a few months later.

there could be some QOL adjustments such as objective markers on your screen or minimap for side quests.
you'll also find at least in my case you get stuck in the environment A LOT.

as for the queue times and server issues, they are getting better. however, with steams 2 hour max refund timeframe, you'll be spending that waiting in the queue.

so again, wait until these problems have been fixed in a month or two and maybe return to it.

pushing the crab rave meme aside. the game is actually fun.

after all, you're a crab with a gun killing other crabs who also have guns... sometimes.

It's a great time sink,

only down side is that some skills get so big it's almost impossible to see where an enemies attack is going.
