This game is near-guaranteed to get updates and possibly DLC after its launch, but just keep in mind that this is written as of the release build, on September 7th, 2025.
I do recommend the game, mainly to Hollow Knight players, as it's very fun and is an overall enjoyable experience. However, I will warn you of the difficulty. The game is very frustrating and punishing, and progress does not always feel as rewarding as it should. I'll go into greater detail, but may that serve as a general synopsis.
Anyway. Pros and Cons.
+ Combat is very fluid and engaging, with Hornet's movement abilities meshing with her combat skills to produce fights that feel almost like delicately choreographed dances.
- Combat encounters yield little to no rewards, constantly. If you fight, do it for fun.
- Slow upgrades. Upgrades to your damage output or health are few and far between, and you likely won't improve in any regard other than your own skill for at least several hours of gameplay.
- Tedious bosses. Many bosses will deal enough damage quickly enough to stomp you if you come unprepared. Worse yet, even running to them can at times require several minutes of time and a lot of combat, meaning running back to them after dying is even worse.
- Difficult overworld. Many enemies and environmental hazards will deal double damage, and you will not be ready for it, and you will die. It will get annoying, fast.
+ Rewarded for exploration, both in it being very easy and fun to do, and in that you will receive rewards fairly consistently.
+ Stunning visuals. Not much more to say on the matter, but the game looks great.
+ Banger music. Same as above, the music is as good as it was in Hollow Knight, if not better.
