Viuhkot ovat pienikokoisia hyönteissyöjälintuja, jotka elävät Australiassa, Oseaniassa ja eteläisessä Aasiassa. Ne ovat 11,5–21 cm pitkiä, niillä on pitkä pyrstö, jonka ne usein levittävät viuhkamaiseksi, ja suvulleen tyypillisesti ne seisoessaan roikottavat siipiään. Viuhkot saalistavat pääasiassa ilmassa lentäviä hyönteisiä. Sukupuolet ovat enimmäkseen samanvärisiä. Molemmat puolisot osallistuvat pesän rakentamiseen ja poikasten hoitoon. Pesä on rakennettu puun oksanhaaraan kuivista ruohoista ja heinistä sekä hämähäkinseiteistä.
