tl;dr if it's on a great sale (>$5) you could buy it for the fun, glitchy, unfinished co-op and the pretty graphics

I did not give this game a recommended because I feel a little cheated, a little lied to, and overall disappointed

I am a huge fan of the first two trine games. I loved switching between characters and they all felt fun and fresh to play, the graphics were amazing (probably one of my favourite looking games of all time) and the story was simple but gave a depth to the game. Plus, the voice actors? first rate.

The third game, starting out, had some very obvious problems

I can't tell you how upset I was that they WILDLY nerfed zoya. Amadeus too, but zoya went from being the most fun to play to being a slog and a drudge. Wildly enough, with pontius' special abilities, I almost want to say that he is the most fun now. I understand that in the first two trine games, the thief and the wizard were way more fun, versatile and playable than Pontius but I enjoyed pontius as a character and I used him in fights. Most importantly, however, Pontius being kind of superfluous Did Not Take Away My Enjoyment Of The Games. I had a great time leveling up zoya and Amadeus and discovering horrible new ways to kill my enemies
This game doesn't have any of that.
Plus, the glitching. oh, the glitching! The lag! the bugs! It was so bad when I first started playing that I had to turn all the settings down to low just to get it to run
The depth perception in this game is unfair, causing me to die a lot of times I shouldn't have, and the camera angles are far from perfect.

The game is still stunning (when it runs l o l) and I still enjoyed the voice acting and even the gameplay (Especially the final boss). There are places where I could feel the love and hard work and dedication that went into creating this game, and I loved it.
so why didn't I give it a recommended rating?
I feel like this company, of whose games I am fond, and of whom I would consider myself a loyal customer, manipulated and lied to me to get my money. This game, frankly, isn't really a trine game. It's a fun game, but it lacks almost all of the elements that made trine 1 and 2 what they are. This game, while it had merit, seems like it should have been packaged as a different franchise. It feels like they tried to make this game more...bland. That's the only word I can use to describe what happened between trine 2 and 3. They blanded the gameplay, they blanded the story...even the graphics aren't as enjoyable because the 3d depth makes things difficult to focus on (at least for me)

Also the ending.
The credits on this game were one slide of names (assumably because they were embarrassed), and the game literally had to Explain to you that it was finished, because it left off about a third of the way through the game. And they haven't finished it. And I am betting they never do.
I am not giving this game a recommended rating because I don't think the company deserves it. Coming from a hardcore trine fan, ya done messed up, frozenbyte.
