An Honestly underrated survival gem. tons of things to do and gets updated every single weeks for the past 3+ years

People complain about the amount of DLCs but... realistically, you should only consider buying 3 of them.

1. Styx Expansion
2. New Frontiers Expansion
3. Great Hunts Campaigns

Other than that? the rest is either useless of purely cosmetic. And if you're new to the game, the Prospector Edition, which is often on sale, includes the base game along with both the Styx and New Frontiers expac. which is honestly all you need to start off, you can consider Great Hunts later on if you'd like.

Honestly? Out of all the things to be added to this game, THIS is what it was lacking the most, Proper, fleshed out, exploration gameplay.

I mean... hell, we always had the option to generate the ENTIRE globe from the very moment the base game came out of early access. However there were very little incentives to do so since most of our gameplay would consist of managing our colony on one singular map with the occasional escapade to a random POI for a quest.

But now? There's an actual reason to go out and explore the world, with or without quests pushing us to do so.

Barring any of the typical server issues that comes with a new MMO launch.

The game already has a really good and solid foundation, there's potentially hundreds of hours worth of gameplay already in the game as long as you like grinding skills/professions and don't mind the repetitive nature of those games.

And while this game is inherently social in nature, that doesn't mean that you have to group up with people, if anything the game simply encourages social interaction on the spot rather than arbitrarily locking you out of content.

There is basically NOTHING you, as a solo player, cannot accomplish Solo in this game, however progress WILL take WAY longer as a result of pushing for a solo settlement.

But yeah, if I had to describe this game in one long sentence... it would be this:

"It's basically Albion/EVE Online, but cozier and without any of the ganking BS all the while still retaining most if not all of the cool player-driven aspects"

Arguably one of the best Space Sims on the market today. It very much lives up to its "Universe in a box" Tagline

Because yes, the thing that makes this game stand out the most when compared to its competitors is not only the sheer scale at which you, as a player, can expand your influence, but also it's HEAVY emphasis on its simulated universe.

EVERYTHING, across the entire universe of this game is being simulated in real time without requiring any input and/or presence from you
Economy, Faction relations, Supply and Demand, Wars, Missions, EVERYTHING happens in real time, it's quite literally an ever-changing entity that evolves over the course of your playthrough. No playthrough are ever the same

So yeah, out of all the Space Sim out there, this one has, by far, the strongest focus on management and simulation. It's also a very menu/UI heavy game, especially when you end up managing your own Empire and/or your many space stations.

However, all of this is up to you, the game can be as active and as passive as you want it to be. But it WILL reward you more if you actively participate rather than sitting at HQ doing nothing but troop management.

But yeah, I'm so glad that I finally gave this game the chance it deserves, especially now that the whole flight model got revamped.

The game is amazing, don't get me wrong.

But holy hell that optimisation needs work... Even with my current specs, which are basically up to date mid-range, I struggle to run to game at 1080p 60FPS at High Preset without any Frame Gen nor Upscaling... And to top it all off, the game LOVES to drop frames when moving the camera somewhat rapidly, which IS a problem in a game like this.

If you're curious about it, go watch the latest Digital Foundry video on the game's PC performance. Even with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which is the FASTEST Gaming CPU on the market, the game loves to drop frames for no apparent reasons

And for those who want to know my specs. here they are:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8c/16t
GPU: Radeon RX 7800XT 16GB (Running 25.2.1 Drivers)
RAM: 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 (XMP On)
Storage: 1TB SATA SSD
Monitor: 1080p 75Hz Freesync
OS: Windows 11 Pro

So yeah, sadly it'll have be a thumbs down from me, but I WILL be changing it back to Positive once the optimisation issues gets addressed, more specifically the "Frame drops when moving camera fast" one.

Edit: Nominated this absolute Gem for Labour of Love 2025. 'cuz it 100% deserves it imo, probably won't win it but it sure as hell did in my heart

This game is as much of a "Story Generator" as it is a deep Sandbox Roguelike RPG.

The amount of stuff you can get up to in the game is quite frankly staggering. Even in Early Access, the game has an impressive amount of depth to it, some systems are clearly more fleshed out than others of course, with some being clearly unfinished, but they all feel fairly feature rich nonetheless

As of right now, the game can easily offer hundreds of hours worth of gameplay, as long as you play it for its Sandbox, Roguelike and RPG elements.

The story on the other hand is what's mostly missing, along with some core system like weapon and armour crafting which aren't fully implemented yet. (can be "fixed" with a mod called Yar Craft, which allows you to craft your own weapons and armour.)

Arguably the least predatory Gacha game in the industry, one that targets "Light Spenders" over "Whales".

And just for that, it gets my vote for the "Labor of Love" award, Project Moon just deserves such award, they make games by passion and they've been very transparent about exactly what role Limbus Company plays... It's basically meant to fund their future games, all the while staying true to their usual quality standards.

Absolute underrated gem of a game, deserves to be talked about WAY more than it is now.

Here's the VERY rough gist of it, It mixes both Terraria's Boss/crafting centric Progression along with Rimworld's Base/NPC colony sim management.

And despite the Early Access tag, there is PLENTY of stuff to do in the game as of right now, mostly thanks to the prior 4+ years of active development/updates.

So yeah, if you liked both Terraria's progression model and Rimworld's colony sim aspect, this game seamlessly combines both to create an incredibly engaging and addicting experience.

And also, one thing to keep in mind, the devs for this game are in it for the LONG haul, whenever 1.0 comes out, it won't be the end of it, FAR from it.

Just... don't bother reading the negative reviews, the vast majority of them are all about the ToS debacle and it proved, once again, that people can't read to save their lives.

If you like the progression system of most survival crafting game and Division-style gunplay along with a hint of what The Day Before would've been like, then give this one a try.

it's honestly a very solid F2P looter shooter, the only major problem being the company behind it, Nexon. Which, as many of you probably know, is known to be quite shady.

My personal recommendation would be to enjoy the game for what it's worth and avoid "committing" to it, and by that I mean avoid making this your "Main Game". Unless, of course, you're willing to deal with whatever BS Nexon's gonna pull in the future.

In the end, it's basically free, give it a try and see if you like it.
