A nightmarish expansion in which the less than intrepid astronaut explores an anomalous satellite reading to make another friend on their journey.

A wonderful little game featuring an intrepid astronaut stuck in a time loop about the friends we made along the way.

Played for 100 hours over the course of a week or two then took a few month long break. I've made more progress in the last 50 hours thanks to the blueprints. I have covered one planet with concrete, one planet is 90% covered in refineries, and another planet is covered with machines to process deuterium. I need to build more factory to research faster. I must build more factory.

I'm a player coming from Elite: Dangerous with 1000 hours and, while this game is only combat, it is very good combat. Ships are quick to kill and there are no respawn timers so you can get right back into the battle. Currently, you are given objectives where NPC ships will gather and players can participate in to gain credits. There are orbital station fights where the goal is to destroy or defend the station, and planetary fights with the same goals, but larger ships need to keep gravity in mind. The game isnt close to feature complete, but the devs are quick to find and squash bugs.

Oh, orbital nuclear bombardment is on the roadmap so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At the time of this review, i have 1000 hours into the game, and I'm not sure how much more it will grow. By some standards, this is a lot. I know of others who have many thousands of hours into this game though, and I think they feel the same way about this game as I do.

Frontier, fix your game.

Every single update for the past year or more has introduced bugs that have rendered the game a hassle to play or nearly unplayable.

This last update, the September update, introduced a new tutorial for new players and ARX, a premium currency that replaced buying cosmetics directly. Almost immediately, people figured out every cosmetic is somewhere between 20% and 100% more expensive. The introduction of these two features broke nearly every aspect of the game. Mining was impossible because a module would boot you to the main menu if used. Combat was made a hassle because ships began to rubber band. Other players can suddenly disappear from your game, despite you having shot at them or shot with them a second ago. Bugs Frontier said they patched were still in the game, including bugs fixed from previous updates.

And today, on September 25, Frontier issued a rollback for a credit exploit that they advertised on their in game news bulletin. Sure, i'll admit that I am salty because i lost some money. But this is still inexcusable behavior to introduce new features or cargo without testing to see if they function as intended. Some players even had collateral damage done to their accounts that had nothing to do with the credit exploit. In the past, a very similar exploit was discovered and patched quickly. In that case, there was no rollback of credits or ships.

Frontier, deal with cheaters, deal with hackers hackers, get a QA team and Fix Your Game.

I recieved this game for $9, this likely has caused a bias on my part.

I have not uncovered every secret of this game, but I have completed a stealthy(ish) pacifist run which took a full 24 hours to do. If I were more focused and did less of the side missions, it would easily be a 20 hour or less stealth game. I can only guess (at this point) that a guns blazing playthrough may only be 10 or so hours. Compared to Human Revolution, you dont go to very many places for missions, but the places you do go to in Mankind Divided are fleshed out enough to give a large variety of playstyles that fit the augments you have. With a stealth playthrough, the game was fairly easy and might even be possible to complete without firing a single shot (after the first tutorial mission), even on the hardest difficulty allowed at the start. The story itself is linear, but the side missions give a greater in depth view of the world.

People who enjoyed Human Revolution for the gameplay with Augs will likely enjoy this game. The story is not the most engaging of stories, but it was enough to hook me in.
