I'm sad this game is going away. It was fun while it lasted.

This game probably would have been a great experience if I could actually play it. There seems to be an issue with xbox controller support on PC. The "use" button (right trigger) doesn't work. I'm not going to spend an hour trying to debug an issue with a 5 hour game.

I wanted to like this game, but the bugs got in the way. Having items disappear, getting pushed off an edge by phantom geometry, ending up out of bounds, freefalling forever... and that's just the first hour.
Sadly the game's first impression didn't draw me in enough to want to push past these rough edges.

Early Access Review
Clunky, slow, confusing, unrewarding. I couldn't get past these overwhelming impressions from just the first two tutorial missions. I love building. I love space. I hate... this game.

Doesn't even run. Fun times!

Edit: After some tinkering, I managed to get the game to launch. Unfortunately, the original rating stands. I was looking forward to having a game to play cooperatively with friends and this was quite a let-down.

Many people have already complained about the couch co-op split screen, but I knew about that going in. What really misses the mark for me is the fact that Mercenary Kings "co-op" feels more like having multiple single player games running at once. Dying and having to fight your way back to where you left off works well for single player games but really makes for a poor multiplayer experience. Nothing sucks the fun out of a game like feeling like you or one of your friends is a burden.
