Abiotic factor has hooked me.

-Options and gameplay tweaks are pretty comprehensive that makes the experience more (or less) comfortable, depending on what you are in to.
-The graphics and environments are somewhat in the same vein as Half Life, being set in a scientific research facility with a tram system to boot, washed over in a low poly sheen.
-The tutorial is simple, effective and lore friendly to the player, including basic crafting among other standard controls to an FPS game.
-RPG/level up mechanics are XP based on the "level by doing" philosophy with just enough grind to feel rewarding and not lame.
-Temperature mechanics are a part of the game but only really need to be combated in specific biomes and areas using equipment and food effects. Not the worse thing I've seen by far and adds an extra thing to juggle and change the gameplay loop around.
-Food and drink mechanics are implemented next to cooking completing the survival experience. There are many foods to make, with the early game being a real fight to stay full and not irradiated, including many recipes that have buffs or special effects. Very cool.
-The crafting is rather in depth with components that are needed to make further items that need a fast array of ingredients found from various enemies and POIs each with their own pool of specific loot.
-Base building is complete and allows you security, but not invincibility, which IMO gives a perfect balance that allows for relaxing hoarding but keeps you on your toes.
-Combat is more or less what you might expect with a survival-craft game where you start with standard melee weapons and move up the ladder to ranged and so on. One thing that sets it apart is the amount of offensive options that nearly all have a unique feel and advantages during use.
-Enemies are plentiful and varied, even having enemy spawns change that make more peaceful early game areas more dangerous, depending on your progress in the game.
-Co-op really shines in Abiotic Factor as well. Inviting the science team to explore with you really adds another layer of hijinks and fun which feels almost like the game was made with it in mind.

100% recommended!!!

========================== !GAME MAY BE UNPLAYABLE IN THE NEAR FUTURE! =====================
Game seems to be in limbo with the devs ghosting and a bunch of strange stuff happening on their discord. There is talk about the servers going offline, making the game unplayable which something that any future buyer needs to know.

From what I've played so far, only on the PvE with a friend, the game is pretty fun!
The game has a simple mission: Gear up and get out.
This might be more nuanced against players as there is a battle royale element of a closing circle which pushes the fight around the map. In PvE there are groups of AI controlled soldiers that mill about locations and streets who activate when you are close enough or engage them.

The gunplay is punchy and fun with each weapon, of which there are a fair few, behaving slightly different from each other. This comes along with weapon leveling system to unlock attachments that are not separate items. Weapons can be found in the map with attachments already installed too.

Traversal of the map is easy as the map is of a smaller size and vehicles are everywhere which include helicopters.

The loot aspect is pretty fun with a lot of the items being upgrade material for stash/lockbox/weapon capacity along side some items being very lucrative which makes you make a choice between money or upgrading.
In the same vein as Tarkov, there are locked rooms that need keys, boss characters (in PvE) and locations that have a higher chance of spawning certain loot.

Armour system is basic but effective of the same type as warzone with plate carriers and plates which higher grade versions of the carrier can be bought once unlocked through player level with backpacks as well. Stims and self revives are very useful with a gas mask being a must to extract as the zone shuts on the final extract completely.

Overall a fun title in it's early stages with more content roadmapped without dates. The price feels like an EA title but without the tag.

The only real criticism I have is the AI boss difficulty but I assume that they are supposed to be tackled when the player has unlocked everything.

Awesome game with great gunplay. There is no story as such but the world is odd and empty yet relatively detailed.

The game is based around the more basic side of extraction shooter objectives which is fine by me. There are no players against you but instead there are AI enemies that amp up in difficulty the longer you play each round.

Upgrades and unlocks are somewhat plentiful depending on your skill in the game. A crack-shot can blitz past the waves of enemies, cash out and still have lots left over after a run but the unlocking part is interesting.

I recommend, especially considering the price, this game for it's simple yet fun mechanics which you can get a fair few hours out of. I completed the unlocks and reset my progress just to run through it again for fun!

The developer has just updated the game today and I'm looking forward to playing it!

I like the more advance climbing but that's where it ends. This should of been a story DLC especially seeing as how the game is on the same engine with a few minor changes to movement that could of been patched in with an update, let alone the asking price. I support the studio but if THIS is what they are going to propose as a whole new title for their next game, I'm 100% out.

Pros:
-Climbing and movement changes (feel like they were ripped from mods)
-2 New enemies.
-Slasher has sounds now.

Cons:
-Same game to the point that HD2 mods are just being ported over to the HD3 WS including achievements (minus a couple of unique ones).
-Climbing puzzles are extremely limited with how you can approach them and even include false routes to waste time.
-I know that these games are pretty light on the story, but the 2-3 notes I read in game were just nonsense to the point that I just didn't care. HD2's "story" was somewhat interesting and I wanted to know the reasons and the events that took place to establish the games world. This has nothing that hooked me in any way within the short playtime I had.
-Not even an official HD1 model swap option or costume implemented either. I guess the modders have better costume creation than the devs themselves.

I personally didn't care for this game enough. The fact that this could of been a DLC with a better price-tag or better yet a WS campaign is saddening. You might like it but I'm gonna wait for a sale and probably re-buy it at a better price that fits it.

A great mix of skill based shooting, ability usage, weapons, upgrades, perks and upgrades make this game tick, clang and explode into the spotlight.

The run mechanics are simple, go and fight hoards of bots and get as far as you can, die, upgrade and repeat. Much like most rogue-like games. This however is 1. an FPS and 2. based in a world with killer robots which makes all of the difference to me.

Right off, you start with a jack of all trades class that helps with survivability and flat damage, which is to be expected to help the player settle in and get acquainted with the basic gunplay and how everything works.

From there on, the loop quickly tightens up and creates a snowball effect where your skill is complemented by the upgrades to a high degree and runs feel more relaxed as you get used to the higher level plays you gain access to.

Further classes that are unlocked add another layer to what speciality you play into, each with their own ability and melee differences. These classes play very differently and each get different class upgrades along each run. Finding your favourite may take a bit of time but when you find the one for you, the level of fun is pushed to the max.

The levels of the game are all very unique with different design and music that go hand in hand. On the same page, each are has various secrets, unlockables and enemy variety.

There are also pretty frequent updates with new content and fixes, showing that the devs are interested in supporting the game and have love for the community.

I'll stop here but, this game is worth the price. If anything above catches your eye, you will not be disappointed playing this title.

Early Access Review
It's a bit too rough around the edges at the moment. Performance is ok but there are some sort of loading barriers that freezes the game 3 times in quick succession and throws my camera all over the place, even if I take my hand off of the mouse.

The gunplay seems alright, the looting is pretty finicky when trying to loot a different item that is close to other items, enemies that I've seen are fun to look at but less than fun to fight when I need to, environments and designs steal the show along with the ambience. It reminds me of terminator resistance in the best ways but is yanked back by the technical pitfalls.

One thing that throws off my runs is the hunter killer spawn and inevitable death that follows. They spawn in within 5-10 meters of me and proceed to walk about me until they make eye contact after a pincer on my position to then destroy me in 3 seconds. Maybe a further away spawn or change to how they discover the players exact position might be better, that might just be me though.

I've played over 2 hours of the game and I'm not gonna try and plead with steam for a refund. I believe in this project and the team behind it. This game SHOULD be great when it fully releases, but for now I cannot advise buying if you are looking for a polished game. However if you would like to support the team please give the title a try.

This review will change in the future as things are changed, improved and fleshed out.

Went F2P.
£739.34 of DLC WITH a lot of 60% sales on them.
We looked away from EA for too long and they stole my friend's money.

-Unfortunate edit 10/5/25-
The devs need to stick to being just that, Developers! These guys listened to complete nobodies, with nothing going for them who just want to ruin somebody by any lies necessary. They made the stupid decision to part ways with a great content creator who actually likes the game and was giving it positive exposure by having fun with it.

I'm unhappy that this company is allergic to good press and I'm saddened to see them bend the knee for those who don't have money, a following, common sense AND don't even play or like the game.

Just buy PD3, at least they aren't trying to hide their clown shoes.

Instead of saying "Don't listen to the positives blah blah blah" like the 10 positive reviewers who woke up for political alphabet spaghetti that have no clue what a nazi or fascist is, look at them and realise that those mentally ill people are only there to try and spew rancid political comments with zero evidence or logic. This game isn't a game to them, it's real life.

The negative to positive numbers should show who the actual fans are. Maybe remember that for the future IG.

Keep political BS out of the game space IG, please.

Anyway, onto the review that is also negative until fixes are made.

My name is not Crime boss: Rockay City!

Gotta say that the game has surprised me. From a barely coherent meme game that spilled onto epic, to a relatively fun heist game with pretty good replayability.

The previous footage back when it first launched just gave me the idea that the game was a paycheck for old/inactive actors from the 80s. Although the voice acting is a bit stiff, it's not too bad considering it is all background noise for the gameplay that makes up for it.

The good:
-The gunplay is very satisfying and the guns feel just right for the most part.
-The missions and heists are pretty replayable with things changing sort of like PD2's heists (objectives changing spawns, set-pieces varying and enemy type spawns changing).
-Loot feels good. Filling bags with a meter instead of single items is something that I personally like.
-AI can be very useful at times and work as individuals to a degree.
-Enemies mimic that of the PD series with police/guards being squishy, swat being a fair challenge along with shields and specialists being a fair threat that can open up your defences and finally the Juggernauts and bots being real thorns in your side if you fail to go for their weak spots.
-Leveling up to get rewards is something that I personally like. Getting a better tiered weapon, equipment, skins or a useful skill by chance always entertains me. Although it would be cool to get a random resource reward to pick from like money or XP too.
-I like the stealth systems in place and the fact that the security cams are animated to move and change their viewing angle. Another animation I like, while on the subject, is the drill being animated to move forward towards the doors as it progresses.
-The unique characters with special perks are a fun idea, especially of you wanna change up your loadout from your boss character.

The meh:
-Some of the level design is a real pain. For instance, in the dragon dogs heist, I can stealth all of the way into the vaults only to alert EVERY guard in the map and they then ALL single file path directly to the drill. It feels a little synthetic when that happens.
-Some of the difficulty spike in the single player is a little disheartening, then again it IS a roguelite.
-Quickmatch has it's moments where there isn't any way to connect to any other lobbies and just fails. I mainly play with a friend or by myself in a private lobby so not too much of an issue for me.

The bad:
-The AI can tank a whole heist thanks to their obsession with grabbing bags, dropping them and running off to get shot while trying to grab a random bag or dropping them and forcing you to backtrack all the way to try and secure it. In single player, you can somewhat control them by restraining their movement but in multiplayer, they just run rampant and screw up your plans of looting or storing bags until ready.

As it stands, the game is very reasonably priced for the base content. Even more so as it is 20% off with all current DLC included until the 11th of July. There are also more expansions planned later on and the devs have shown that the game has promise for the future and that they are still working on it.

-Edit 28/7/24-
AI is now controllable, at least in invite only games, and they somewhat seem a bit more proficient? (That last part might be just my perception)

-Edit 19/8/24-
The latest update added some welcome additions but also new issues that I've experienced. The AI is generally worse now, making them unresponsive to commands in favour of finding where I leave loose bags and going to pick them up. This happens even when we are nowhere near them like on the upper floor of dragon dogs waiting for the chopper with the bags at the explosive wall to the sewers. They just rush over to them through gunfire and heavy enemies.

The difficulty has also been tweaked to make things even more chaotic on extreme. This included random robots showing up and 3-4 juggernauts half way through, instantly killing the 2 bots and me and my friend.

One thing that happened to my friend was that his cluster grenade was not throwable. This forced us to cower from the police around corners instead of being able to use equipment to create a stop gap and gain control of the fight again.

Due to this and how frustrating it was, I have to change my review to a negative. The fun has been turned into anguish.

Note: Just tried to do an armoured truck ambush solo and it was horrible. On extreme with bots, I notices that the bots refuse to fight back and just go down. The constant stream of police with no reprieve is unplayable, especially considering the hoards of specialist units that are not just more tanky but also destroy you in seconds. I didn't even get to open the trucks let alone have any team members alive by the time that the saws were done.

I don't think I'll be revisiting this until things are properly balanced or at the very least have the bots able to attack enemies that are more than 2 meters away. Not sure who asked for these changes but I don't think that they speak for the majority of players.

I would love to give this an actual review. Unfortunately, the content has been removed due to "Not being able to maintain" it. Whatever that means who knows, just seems like corpo speak for "We are lazy and want money".

This should be taken down as you are giving money for content that no longer exists.

Edit: Now that some time has passed, I can also mention that Destiny isn't even in steam's top 30 played games anymore. Pretty showing of how lame Bungie has become.

Also, sorry for the wait, I just wanted to play it safe and not "Over-deliver" on the content of this review.
