Great game! But no longer works on Proton. Tried to fix it, but couldn't. Makes me regret buying anything from EA. They can't allow even a sub-$10 game to run without their permission and surveillance. Very sad. Hope to fix in the near future, but have given up for now... My time set aside for playing has expired while unsuccessful troubleshooting, thanks to EA.

This could have been a great way to learn about video game history, but it is encumbered by the parody console and company names. Its a simulator. But it is a bit lacking. Feels like a text game sometimes. Limited soundtrack. No voice acting, or cut scenes or variation other than occasional office upgrades you opt into throughout the game. Not worth full price, but alright at a steep discount on sale.

Wholesome classic video game fun! A little remixing keeps it fresh, but doesn't break anything. You cant go wrong with Pac-Man!

P.S.

They may call me ghostphobic, but I ain't afraid of no ghost!

I take a chill pill and eat them for lunch!

You'll like this menu too, I have a hunch!

Go ahead and your high score post,

Then you can munch, chew and boast.

Just don't talk with your mouth full,

Go ahead and take your time with this arcade jewel.

Easy enough to be fun yet hard enough to be challenging. It’s good with or without the nostalgia. New and old can enjoy it just the same- although I appreciate the included nostalgic fun and old skool Easter eggs!

There is one level so far that I’m not fond of. It’s got some adult references that are inappropriate. That said, it should fly over the heads of most kids and innocents.

The games are great. I love that its available for Linux, which Sega used to shun. I am always disappointed to see good games, including great Sega titles, unavailable for Linux. And I bought this to support these old games and their release at least as much as to actually play them.

But the fact that Sega has left us with a barebones emulator with issues (for example, fullscreen doesn't work for me) when there are much better, free, open source emulators available that Sega could have repackaged, is inexcusable. The emulator user interface is presented as the room of a child. So we pretend that there's a real wooden bookcase for the game cartridges and a real Cathode Ray Tube Television set, with simulated static and all.

While this was is all “cute”, its not really a good way to interact with the emulator and gets old quickly. The rendering of this simple room, for some reason, also results in quite a slowdown on my computer. Setting the rendering option of this “room” to the fastest option did remedy this. But I thought there must be a way to switch to a more practical interface. If there is, I haven't found it yet.

So I've already spent several hours reading and searching for different emulators and how to work them so that I can actually play and enjoy my legally purchased games. This shouldn't have been necessary for a commercial release and will discourage the non-techies who just want to enjoy their games, not deal with all the extra steps to get the product actually working well.

I hope Sega continues to sell this and more old games collection, but I hope they dump the packaged emulator and provide a far more decent and practical one for the sake of the customer.

So recommendation is “Yes”for the game collection, but a firm “No” for the packaged emulator.
