This game is an acid trip, and I mean that literally. While I understand that they have made the conscious decision to sever themselves from what everyone wants, the fact that they are tripling down under pressure is based.

If they are this dedicated to making something nobody wants, maybe they do have a vision for the future- and they need a game so bonkers it did a factory reset on people's expectations. That's why they brought back Raven as lead developer- the ones who made Hexen, Heretic, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Singularity, Soldier of Fortune 1 and 2, and Ghosts- since before making call of duty, they were an iD software sister studio. Ever heard of Wolfenstein 2009? The reason they make call of duty is because that game failed. Now all of their anger and frustration can be brought out in all of its fury.

This game isn't the one we wanted. It is a cry of revenge by a studio kept in limbo while sleeping on Godzilla levels of talent. This game is Call of Duty's reckoning, and Activision knew it. And they went all in. While it is inescapable that this game is on the same level as Hobo With a Shotgun, The Toxic Avenger, and Sharknado, I cannot fault them for it. Because doubling down this close to microsoft taking the franchise behind the shed takes guts, and if this is how they are starting out, we are going to have the wildest call of duty experience ever. And the guts of trying that alone is based.

The Rock's Backpages reviewer Barney Hoskyns wrote that while "Idioteque" (by Radiohead) was arguably too derivative of Aphex Twin, it contributed "something irresistibly powerful to the [Aphex Twin] template".

The same could be said of this game. It's too derivative of doom eternal. I'm not going to lie, however, and say that I don't like it. It's a solid time, in 6 months it could be as good as roboquest. But instead of a proper painkiller vibe and atmosphere, it scratches the itch many of us had, myself included, when playing doom eternal: why wasn't horde mode co-op?

Basically, this game is worth your time if you cannot get your friends to play doom so you want to play a coop game with them instead. The combat mechanics are not terrible, but I do miss that badass atmosphere. It's a new game, a reimagining for the franchise. The old franchise is dead, we need to let the past stay buried and hope that this inspires the pk community to make something great in retaliation. With any luck, this game could inspire a pk mod renaissance, which would make this game ironically worth it for historical purposes alone.

Lord Byron, a famous poet, was an infamous @%%hole, but he made great art that twisted and perverted (old definition) on existing formulas that made people so upset it revolutionized the very genre he wrote in. Essentially, this game is a coffee break style game, and less of an immersive experience- but one that is worth the money if you are looking for coop shooters that fit the doom eternal template.

This is the Kid A of boomer shooters.

BLOODKILL and BLOODKILL: GOREBLAST OVERKILL are like that 3d maze game for Windows 95 you played in Excel or something and your computer got struck by lightning and it becomes an ultra immersive ultra simplistic 3d maze shooter with HEAVY serious sam elements

It's like AssaultCube, Serious Sam, and Catacomb 3D walked into a bar and took turns passing a joint and this was their spirit voyage into the stone cold "Windows 95 Demo Software" vibes. I get reminded of Dead Hunt and some kind of Java Flip Phone FPS game. You could tell me this was a sequel to a hit on the nokia n gage, and I'd believe you. Pure simplicity in John Romero-Style Maze Design and immersive graphics.

These games are the SlowRoads of FPS. A game to play when you're reaching your zen.

Bonus Points for the BFG being an Elephant Gun, although it'd be more accurate to call it a Kinetic Bombardment via Shoulder Mounted Artillery. The music is amazing, too. I want to buy the soundtracks.

This game is basically the spiritual successor to Nazi Zombies: Portable, a quake mod/homebrew game for hacked psps as well as quake source ports, but with permanent upgrades kinda like Vampire Survivors. That's not to say there's any xp or levels- the core gameplay is still NZ:P

Great game. I like how punctuation isn't required. Also, Flash Gitz is one of the words you gotta type. Imagine that

It's exactly what I wanted after playing doom eternal, and it flows perfectly into a playthrough of Doom 2016. I suppose for the next 10,000 years, mankind will follow an eternal play loop of this, 2016 and eternal back to back. Just like Doomguy.

I finally reached the max rank, Ace, and I soon realized that despite never having expectations set I was unable to fully upgrade my ship. I feel cheated. If I had been informed beforehand, I don't think I would have uninstalled it.
