Before I go into my review, just to help some people out when they start, if you're experiencing any lag/freezes with this game this time around, it's probably because the Internet Protocol address changed for the game recently. You can solve the lag by going to directory: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts and then add "216.98.50.240 127.0.0.1" at the bottom of your hosts file.

Now to the review, as a neutral person who has no nostalgia with the game whatsoever but just wanted to try one of the classics. This is one of the only two games so far with which I couldn't bare to go through to reach the ending. This is why:

First of all, the combat is FRUSTRATING. Even if you know every move you need to know, it is often very time-consuming and hard to fight against large groups of enemies. When you attack one, another one stabs you in the back. They also randomly counter a lot of your attacks, which YOU take damage from. Their attacks, counters and movements are random and you're unable to anticipate anything, so you basically have luck-based combat and you often die. The battles are also very time consuming since you need a lot of hits per enemy to kill them, no matter the weapon you use. There is also no real long-range option to shoot enemies with, at least until later in the game (and yes I know about the throwing knives), which is annoying against archers.

Secondly, you often randomly get exposed, causing you to get chased by A LOT of enemies, so you're forced to uphold your mission AGAIN and either fight until you potentially finish them off, or hide somewhere. Hiding spots are often hard to find, too, and there are enemies everywhere, so it is sometimes hard to lose lign of sight with them.

Third, climbing is very slow and often annoying. Especially when you want to get off a building or ladder. But this is often mentioned in the reviews already so I don't need to get into detail here.

Fourth, the same goes for the missions. They are very repetitive; you need to do the exact same stuff for about four memory blocks at least (equivalent to I think 10 hours).

Fifth, travelling by horse also takes way too long and fast travel points are too rare, so travelling also costs too much time and makes the game more boring.


All of this added up made me quit the game early, around the beginning of memory block 7, which gives you another impossibly hard and long fight, completely luck-based and out of your control. The game is boring and repetitive, but also very frustrating a lot of times. I get that people come here for the nostalgia, but if you don't, it's definitely not worth playing it.

Absolute masterpiece! You can take some very unique routes throughout the story.

Best Lego game of all. Iconic in every way. My childhood :)

Can't play the game anymore because I don't see other people move. There are too many bugs in this game.

Used to think this game is worth the money... until the developers just decided to stop making content.
