The game that started it all and the big evolutinary title of its genre the original resident evil is back and fully playable baby.

Aside from the inconsistent diffuculty between Jill and Chris and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dogs everything about this game just clicks, premise is intruging and gameplay loop is fun accompinied with hilarously bad voice acting what more can you want from a survival horror title

HOWEVER just like Dino Crisis If you wanna play this without DRM go buy it from GOG as its the exact same game without enigma, If you dont mind DRMs then go for it here on steam

Original Seperate Ways was a shove it through the door asset flip for the PS2 release of the og game but one that I wanted to see get a second chance in a more realized envoirment and this DLC does exactly that:

Ada now has a more consistent grappling hook that can actually be used in combat in multiple ways, brand new areas to flesh out her gameplay AND every ridiclous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was cut from Leon was given to Ada, you know the actual spy that traps like these would make sense as?

It also has a pretty generous playtime longer than the OG Seperate Ways and offers an quick spy thriller perspective to base game

Grab it at full price hell grab it alongside with base game and you wont regret it

Remake so good it improves upon EVERYTHING that made the game good in the first place

Infact its a remake so determinted to be faithfull it tries to fix everything that didnt hit in the first game and almost ALMOST made it work, island is still way to tedious and new salazar is just as unengagin as the old one but rest of the game? timeless remake of a timeless classic

An actual sneak button and parry adds so much to the gameplay without ruining everything and ashley section is also fun with its gimmick what more can you want from a remake really

grab it at full price and enjoy the experience

The classic masterpiece from PS2 era and an absoulte time capsules with its ridiclousness and cheeshiness

really the only two things wrong about this game is boring salazar boss and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ island rest is a engagin timeless experience

actually I take that back Seperate Ways is while fun but towards the end it shows its true colors of being an asset flip for the PS2 release and stops making sense shame considering multiple campaigns were always resident evils biggest strengh

Grab it out in full price and enjoy it

It's THE couple game to boot up and play with a lot of creative puzzles and content with a generous friends pass system so you can play without paying twice (suprisingly generous for EA)

Short and adorably edgy half life 2 mod with a fun premise

what more can I say really? an hour long mod with multiple endings with a fun albeit sometimes bit annoying gameplay loop with just enough edge to not overstay its welcome

What a tough game to review, on one hand gameplay is fantastic on the other writing is uhhh lets dissect this with spoilers ahead so be aware:

Grace
Honestly playing as Grace was a blast from past despite she herself being a newcomer, picking the ink ribbon option from diffuculties she plays exactly like old school resident evil games that sweet tense exploration and puzzle solving with limited save is there, although carrying emily around was unneccesarly annoying overall her gameplay with stalkers was a nostalgic yet fresh experience

Leon
Capcom's resident golden boy is back and his gameplay is mixture of RE4 and 5. I know this sounds like game having an identity crisis but Capcom suprisingly mixed both elements very well whenever you get tired of one other one freshens up the gameplay. Parry from RE4R is back and my one and only complaint about the system is fixed. It now rewards timing and works organically instead of randomly jumpscaring you with a button as If we are still in PS2 and the axe now needs to sharpened instead of being tossed out or repaired as that part is for Grace's self defense items

Why every franchise I love is trapped in writing hell
First half of the story is fine, its geniuenly interesting and intense to go through the second half is however is basiaclly series of poor writing decisions and retcons, yea lemme just kill HUNK in the most boring way possible add a wesker clone and retcon spencer then add a fake choice at the end.

Yes the choice is fake couse 3 outcomes are gonna happen on that:
1 - You gonna trust Leon couse who the ♥♥♥♥ trusts a recently retconned villian
2 - Your jaw is on the floor from the retcon and decided to pull a middle finger to writers and choose the canon ending
3 - You are me and survived Mortal Kombat 1 and Life is Strange Double Exposure and took the lazy retcon and writing into account and translated the word Elpis (means hope) and chose the correct answer omg such quirky writing 🤪🤪🤪

Overall
Overall it has the best gameplay and pacing of the franchise thats period but story is straight up ♥♥♥♥ from butt in the second half and for a game that heavily advertised on the narrative thats a major point reduction
Get the game on sale and have the time of the life but dont pay 52 dolars for it simple as that.

Prequel to the first game Fear Effect 2 is simply an upgraded version of the first in terms of gameplay with a longer story to go thorugh however there are few things we need to cover before the actual game:

Its Emulated...Again
If you played the original games PC release you'll know that its an emulatation instead of an actual port and this is exactly the same for the second game, it gives rewind CTR filter widescreen and improved controls along with save states If you dont wish to use the games own system however there is one big issue with this game specifiaclly, improved controls can ♥♥♥♥ the bed in some intances where the camera moves around, see despite everything being pre rendered FE2 zooms out the envoirment gradually or move the camera around to give more cinematic approach, this works like a charm in tank controls but for the modified ones it confuses the charachter you are playing that I often found myself swapping to tank controls for these sections.
I HAVE TO NOTE THOUGH: This being an emulation means it auto swaps discs which was nice QOL for first game but for this its a GODSEND, og game comes in 4 discs and I remember as a kid playing this on a ps1 and disc order of FE2 wasnt 1-2-3-4 it was some ♥♥♥♥ like 1-2-3-1-3-2-4 like dude what was that lmao. Really glad that is gone now.

On to the Actual Game
Story structure is the same as first game, group of anti heroes are in for a dirty job only for that to be flipped over their heads though this game is more action and puzzle focused compare to the pure survival horror nature of first game, its also the game where devs confirm that Hana is our main protaganist considering you spend first half of the game with her and how much once again story centers around her, they also made her even more snarky and flirty in this game so I guess I wasnt the only one that was reminded of Lara Croft when I saw her in first game and eidos wasnt gonna let their golden girl have any competition during that era of gaming though that didnt stopped her from stealing her wardrobe in second half of the game. My two complaints about the story is that one of the things I liked about original game was that stakes were extremly high, game did not shy away from killing of central charachters left right and center but this being prequel they sadly can't do that and I liked the touchy horror of the first game more but this one still holds on its own and a interesting enough ride to through

Gameplay wise its the exact same as first game with more responsive controls and more toys to play and new types of enemies to play with puzzles being more complex but a lil bit to drawn out at times, same goes for backtracking, backtracking in disc 1 was really tedious but once it picks up its a quick ride not an easy one though despite being more action oritended the brutal diffuculty of first game is here even If its slightly lowered

Overall its a good action horror game to play and for the extremly cheap that it is in its a quite steal to go through so I definetly recommend it

What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tonal whiplash visiting this after the first game, Capcom took the resident evil complaints to heart and instead of trying to make a unique survival horror game they just turned it into a arcade shooter

Now even in this direction Dino Crisis is enjoyable game but not as polished as its predecessor with some of the more annoying mechanics and boss fights in the game with an ending so abrupt I couldnt believe the game ended

Get this on sale If you want to as its not a bad game but definetly not something I'll pay the full price for.

DO NOTE THAT:
For some weird ass reason this version has Enigma on it despite being a game thats been out for AGES so If you dont mind that get it from here If you DO mind it get it on sale via GOG as its essentially the same version except the dumbass DRM in it
