I would recommend this game because there isn't really anything else out there like this that's on Steam and supports the somewhat latest tech.

Pros:
Good driving simulator with traffic and pedestrians
Big modding community for cars

Cons:
Takes ages to load
Rather slow/laggy sometimes even though it isn't graphically intensive
No modding capability for levels/tracks
The clutch is unrealistic and stalls way too quickly
Some rules are way too strict and sometimes unrealistic too (e.g. at roundabouts and signalling when lane changing)
No UK rules
No cyclists

Used to be a Frontier fanboy but this game is too hard to get into. I know it tries to be more realistic especially for online purposes but I used to just like trying things out and didn't care if I crashed into things for fun, got into fights with the police, firing at space ports and watching an infinite amount of police crafts crashing into the pod bay doors and exploding while I laughed knowing they couldn't touch me.

But now you'll get a lot of damage by scraping a light post, or get fined for accidently going to the wrong landing pad without much warning. Forget auto-pilot, you're on your own. Ever tried manual landing on Elite Frontier? Well this is worse! Requesting to dock, manually I can handle, but flying through tiny holes to find the wrong landing pad and then you've got to line up straight. And it's even worse online, Good luck trying to find a free landing pad when you've got a mission that ends in five minutes. You still need an internet connection to play Solo and sometimes internet goes down while trying to get into the Station Services.

There are literally no fun missions suitable for beginners with crappy ships and few credits like me, because I crashed my ship once I lost nearly everything I avoid fighting at all costs. There is no way to save a previously saved state that you can go back to. If you crash you need "Insurance" which means you'll lose most of your hard earned cash doing boring missions and mostly all of your ships components with it.

So back to square one. I really want to give this a go. Spent a lot of money on it and hardly played it for the reasons above. Maybe some day I'll get into it, but not now.
