i was crazy about the chao garden when i played SA2 on gamecube 20 years ago, i was crazy about it when i played on xbox 10 years ago, and once again when i played on steam 5 years ago. naturally i expect to be crazy about this game too, and so far it's delivering. it's got all the familiar foundations of the chao garden with fresh features and more depth to make it work as a standalone game.
the bobos are cute, i love the human character designs, and there are a ton of little references that tickle my nostalgia. of course i'm going to spend the majority of my starting money on the purple party hat for my bobo to wear, it's a runescape reference, and that's like 30% of my personality.
overall the game feels like a love letter to people like me. big props to the devs for making so many chao garden enjoyers' dreams come true.
