TLDR - This is my favourite survival game so far, and I have played a fair bloody few! If you ever wanted to try to survive a Resonance Cascade inside an SCP facility, this is the game for you.

Absolutely stunning game, loved every moment of it. The design of the world, both thematically and mechanically, works incredibly well, and I've never played a game that felt like it respected my time this much.

You'll never have those survival-game moments of having to walk for an hour just to reach the place you need to be to actually progress; the facility uses vertical space and a looping design to make sure that you're opening new shortcuts as you're progressing through the sectors.

You'll (almost) never have those moments where you lose everything and need to farm for six hours just to get back to where you were. If you die, you drop your stuff, but not the stuff you're wearing or that is on your hotbar (i.e. most of the stuff you're actually using).

Each sector is interesting, enemy entities require particular solutions, and the base sieges make base building entertaining rather than a simple progress gate.

My one critique is that sometimes certain item recipes were locked behind crafting or looting a particular item that could be part of the game that you were not personally engaging with (for example, fishing).

This game is brilliant.

The katana in this game is one of the most fun weapons I've used in any game, it's just way too fun to wade through a throng of demons, slashing them to bloody chunks. The guns feel great, they feel powerful, and there are few better sights than watching a demon disintegrate into a gooey red splatter when you unload a shotgun into it point blank.

The enemy variety is really good, in my opinion. When you start facing multiple greater demons you really have to begin thinking about which of the millions of enemies you should reduce to red paste first; should you take out the giant, axe-wielding monster who enrages all the litte guys? Do you take down the giant necromancer who is constantly spawning skeletons and resurrecting the enemies you slay? Do you focus on taking down the horde first so they aren't chewing on your arse while you fight the big threats? Whatever your choice, you have a spectacular array of weapons, each with secondary fire that alters the functionality of the weapon (such as the crossbow launching bolts with sticky bombs on them).

It is an old-school style shooter in the style of Serious Sam, Duke Nukem, or (obviously) the original Shadow Warrior. Hordes of enemies to chew through and loads of weapons to use. So if you like good, old-fashioned gorey shooter goodness, this is the game for you!
