FTL is basically space combat + a rogue-like, and the combination works really well. You control a ship carrying vital information, fighting pirates and the rebel fleet as you make your way to the final battle. Each system of the ship, from weapons to oxygen distribution, can be individually controlled, making FTL a much deeper strategy game than anything else of the sort. It's not an easy game, but it is very fun - and it's really cool when you finally figure out how everything works together and how to use every part of the ship most effectively.

It's sort of like a murderous puzzle game where you try to figure out the quietest, most inconspicuous way of assassinating a variety of targets using a huge number of combinations of weapons, "accidents," and whatever else is handy. Sure, you can just shoot them - but where's the fun in that? (also, the game gives you fewer points if you do that)

RO2 is easily the most interesting WWII FPS I've ever played, and it has the most realistic firearm mechanics of any FPS I've played. Along with that, of course, comes an impressively steep learning curve. Prepare to die a lot when you start playing this game - but when you get into it, it's a fantastic FPS for teamwork and strategy.

Basically a combination of bullet hell and Asteroids, with the audio-syncing of Audiosurf. Great if you've got a huge music collection. (Note: Don't play this if you have epilepsy. Seriously, don't.)
