This Game Has honestly become worse with the new developers after Telltale sold the game. The game's progression has been horribly elongated while not receiving meaningful content updates. I used to really enjoy the game during its alpha days before the current devs took over, but between the changes of all progression being loot based rather than level based and the loot pools for all areas now being filled with much more random garbage rather than useful supplies, I cant really say the game is that fun any more.

One of the better Survival Crafting games I've played.
At it surface it's similar to the game play of Raft (Mobile base that you build up, Resource you gather as they drift by, POI's with more resources, randomly generated worlds) With "vibes" similar to Subnautica (Large creatures, Vibrant and unique Flora and Fauna, Lone survivor in a hostile world).
The story is probably only about 6-10 hours if you rush it, but if you enjoy base building games you will likely get much more enjoyment out of the game like i have. It's multiplayer is also pretty well implemented, though I certainly experienced many more bugs during multiplayer, but nothing that wasn't fixed by just re-logging or closing and re-opening the world.
Things I Liked:
1) The game has an in-game checklist of items for you to find at each type of POI. you only get the information of what you can find at a POI once you have landed at one so it doesnt spoil things either
2) Varied and interesting locations. each of the story locations are uniquely designed and sell the post apocalyptic design well. Each of the game's biomes also has there own design for the types of non-story POIs. the different structures are grouped into types and you can find similar resources at structures of the same type regardless of biome, but still having different unlocks you can find in each of the different versions
3) Some Buildings crumble when you break their supports. This make my lizard brain happy when me break big thing and it make big crashing noise
4) The game paces progression very well. you almost always unlock new things to do or craft at each location
Things I Disliked:
1) The resource gathering tool's upgrade options are underwhelming. you can only have one upgrade equipped at a time and most of them are side-grades rather than upgrades. they also barely matter by the time you get to them as you tend to have better alternatives for gathering materials pretty quickly
2) The difficulty system feels poorly implemented. my friends worlds where all set to hard cause they are masochists for these types of games but beyond the diseases which are all easy to avoid, the only difference seems to be hunger and thirst are faster. loot is just as plentiful. enemies do the same amount of damage, go down in the same number of hits, and there is no change in move sets. Crafting recipes don't seem to change
3) The ending. Toward the end of the game you get the option to save everyone on the space station you where sent from at the start by killing an AI and all of the vat-babies hooked up to it and bringing the cure to the station, or saving said vat-babies and leaving the people of the space station to die. It does not make any sense that you cant save both as you literally grow the cure in you ship. it also has no effect on gameplay which path you go down as it basicly just boils down to which item do you give to the AI, and then the cutsceen for that ending plays

All things considered, I enjoyed this one and could even see myself coming back to it in the future,
8/10

If your looking for more Subnautica after playing the first game this one is absolutely worth it.
In many ways it is an improvement over the first and in ways it is a bit less

-Things i liked about the game over the original
Characters: Rather than being a silent protag, your character has not only a voice and a personality, but it feels they also develop as a person through events and interactions that i don't want to spoil
Creature Designs: all of the new creatures in this game are on-par or above the quality of the original game with much more elaborate animations on many of them
Base Building: Many of the recipes for constructing structures in this game have been changed to better fit the available resources you will encounter
Gear: Many pieces of equipment you find are much more useful than the ones in the base game
World Building: They have managed to expand the world they have built in this game pretty seamlessly. from alterra to the architects(The precursors from the first game)
Quality Control: I encountered way less bugs in my playthrough than i have in the first game. while i did still experience some obvious bugs, they where fewer and farther apart than when i would encounter them in the first game.
-Things i feel the original game did better
Vehicles: The Seatruck is the main vehicle of the game. its a module based vehicle that takes the role of both the Cyclops and the Seamoth. Personally i preferred the older vehicles but given some of the areas you go into later in the game i understand why they would not want you to use the cyclops. the biggest issue i have with the truck is that when you have modules attached, if you are not perfectly leveled out, than when you exit the driving seat the entire interior is slanted, which can make movement difficult or impossible, combined with the fact that there is no system to tell if you are level while driving other than to just eyeball it and guess, it becomes quiet frustrating. Luckily the prawn suit is still present and can be used for most of the game with little difficulty once you get it
Direction: In the first game it was very obvious where you could explore to find things, and that was all based on the radio, which pointed you to life pods and other POI's that got your adventure started, but here we don't really have as much Initial direction as most of the things that point you in the direction of stuff to explore are found in the world rather than just using a radio

-Things i feel are a bit of a mixed bag
Resource Gathering: The most jarring change by far is the changes to deposits in this game, rather than each deposit having roughly 2-3 different drops that change depending on the deposit, each deposit type can only drop one resource depending on the type, or they can drop titanium. you also don't have tons of random salvage everywhere so getting enough titanium for a base early can be a bit hard, and then once you have gotten to the mid-late game, getting titanium from these nodes can be upsetting from getting way to much. however on the upside there are also now veins that can be found that have 4-5 of the specific resource in them, and mining equipment can now be found without having to randomly stumble around the world till you find the wreck that has it.

Overall this game does capture much of the magic of the first game and improves upon it. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the first game, or enjoys crafting survival games

Unless your willing to commit your life to this game, its not something you can really get into like 90% of other moba's. your game macro means nothing if you cant perfectly manage your micro at the same time, and unless you pick something with a mobility option, your likely to just get stomped by someone who out ranges you. none of the mechanics that are mandatory to play pvp are even explained in game.

2/10 only priority is that its competive, not fun
