Update- Performance since the new update is great compared to how it was. Hitting 62-75fps pretty consistently. Sometimes will drop to 42-52, but I can hardly tell if I wasn't looking at the overlay. Finally going in to finish what the game has to offer right now, doing a ton of exploring and killing things.

Old Review-
Game itself is pretty fun, but for some reason it runs horribly. Doesn't seem to matter what GPU you have. Had an RTX 3060 12GB, game ran around 40-55 FPS, mid 30's if it was raining, graphic settings made no impact. Upgraded to an AMD RX 6800, runs at 45-55 FPS even during the rain. Noticed this time around however, the game only uses up to 75% of my GPU and 50% of my CPU. So if you're okay with a bit of stutter, it's still fun.

Don't let the good reviews fool you.

Abysmal controller support, settings don't save, bad writing with a lot of typos. Entering a new area always shows the transition fade AFTER you've entered the new area. Combat is slow and not at all engaging. If you click to see dialogue faster it skips the dialogue entirely and even on "fast" text speed, it's very slow. Some objects glow when you can pick them up, but objects you can gather from more than once continue to glow even after you've expended it. The animation to gather is also very slow.

This was all in 20 minutes. Going to play for another half an hour to see if it can redeem itself. If not, this review stays.

Edit: It gets worse. So apparently you can hold the shield defense button and attack without ever leaving the shield animation. Got stuck in the first cave, because even though I had placed a rock on the button to a door, the door closed behind me. Fast forward to after I redid the cave, I'm in my first "dungeon" and all of the doors open simply by stepping on the button, without the need for a rock weight. The only rocks are at the very start of the dungeon. Then you get to a door that closes before you can reach it and the button is behind a block-push puzzle. So you run all the way back to the beginning and slowly throw one of the rock weights back to that button, redoing any tiny puzzles on the way back, since they reset.... The rock weight floats over the button and won't open the door. I tried to move the rock and put it back on the puzzle again, but instead of dropping the rock he yeets that mofo. Now I need to get a new rock.

Great little defense game, reminds me of the old flash games I used to play. Not too difficult, lost the first time around wave 10 due to not knowing what the hell I was doing. Beat it straight through the second time, took about 2 hours. Looking forward to episode 2

So my Journey starts as a laggy mess. There's no difference in framerate from epic to low, always 33-37 fps. After you get a sword and follow Diego, the entire scene walking to the elevator has me sitting at 20 fps; caused by an NPC walking? The combat is okay in a solo fight, but it would be better if it wasn't a blurry mess. I'm not sure how you're supposed to block attacks when attacked from the side by another creature. I've tried blocking the direction I'm being attacked from, doesn't work. I've tried to mimic the red flashing pointer when they're about to attack, doesn't work. Works fine in solo, not when you're surrounded by wolves. At one point I clipped through a wall under the watchtower and got stuck. Reloaded, went back up, killed the snapper again. After I stopped the fire I saw Diego standing near the elevator, decided to explore a little bit. Fought a pack of wolves while they were sleeping. Somehow missed my heavy attack on sleeping wolves from point blank. They all jumped me, couldn't defend from any angle for some reason. Sheathed my sword and ran, but my character decided the best course of action when a wolf is about to jump him is to stand there and take it. Died, alt+F4, uninstalled.

Beat the first 30 levels in about 50 minutes. Can't wait for more levels to become unlocked, but it's going to need way more than just 50 or 60 when it's completed. Would be cool to see user-generated levels as a fun end-game.

I had quite a lot of fun before the .80 update which removed a lot of the features I enjoyed and added more bugs than I have seen previously. There's one particular bug that really stands out for me that keeps me from playing. You get shot through solid objects. That doesn't sound that bad, until I tell you I've been shot through entire buildings as if they don't exist... Because they don't. You can walk through them. I can just avoid going near those buildings, right? You would think so, until you start getting shot through entire hillsides. Me-> • /\ ••• <-Enemy squad. I die.

I can't recommend the game in its current state.

I tried to enjoy it, but I've crashed several times and I got a bug which disables my left-click, so I can't select anything. All I can do is use the menus. Restarting and loading a previous save did nothing.
