This was the best online version of Risk.

If you have friends, REAL FRIENDS (the kind who you can punch in the face for having no honor or at least carry some social consequence), to play this online with I guess it's okay. Otherwise, THIS GAME HAS BEEN RUINED BY ITS COMMUNITY AND STAFF. There are so little good active games online because of a toxic petty player base who prefer bot-trap matches, 60-second turns which only benefit players with fast PCs and phones (this is a turn-based game, let me think my moves ffs!) and people who disconnect the game on purpose to win second place (the game as it is right now encourages this by awarding ranking points to players substituted by bots. And the bots suck so much they are a non-threat, so people turn onto the remaining human players. GET REWARDED FOR RAGE QUITTING BOYS!).

The game has been bleeding players for two years straight, and I, someone who enjoys Risk and considers having himself a high mental fortitude, has had enough from playing way lower ranked randos (the matchmaking SUCKS btw I have always have more to lose when I use Automatch) who won't play to win, but to just ♥♥♥♥ you. I'm never playing this game again. Thank God this game sank before I considered spending some cash to buy Premium Mode and some new maps.

Forget it if you want fair play; the dice are rigged, buggy, and when confronted on Discord the studio just released some "source code" on Github ( https://github.com/smgstudio/risk-dice ) back in October for people who were still interested to see this game get better to audit, although they only released some old Unity DLLs which apparently do not have the relevant buggy behaviour. Also, forget it if you want fair play because players have no code of honor, nor will play to win, nor will learn how to not do dumb moves that will only ruin someone's day, and the ones that do "teach" are liars who claim they are mastermind strategists (which is BS because Risk is more of a game that rewards your knowledge of probabilistic distributions plus a little bit of graph theory. When you can't chat with other players to do real diplomacy the game is reduced to math. IT IS SIMPLY MATH!)

Speaking of chat, the game sucks at comunication. You only have a few pre-made phrases and emojis which serve you ZERO toward telling a player important things like, for example "HEY, DID YOU NOTICED THAT PLAYER BLUE DISCONNECTED AND IS NOW A BOT!" and "YOU WIN, OKAY. LET'S KILL THE BLUE PLAYER WHO RAGEQUITTED AND WHO IS NOW A BOT. YOU GET FIRST PLACE AND I'LL GET SECOND." or "¡DEJA DE ATACARME CABRON Y MATA AL PENDEJO QUE SE DESCONECTO! YA GANASTE, OKAY. ¡YA GANASTE! ¡YA! ¡YAAAAAAA CULEROOOOO! WHY DO YOU WANT TO DESTROY MY RANKING SCORE? YOU ARE REWARDING THE GRIEFERS, YOU IDIOT!"

These remaining petty players and toxic "Grandmasters" are so infuriating they make me cuss in my first language. And that takes QUITE A LOT. No wonder all the decent honorable players no longer play >:(

This is the best online version of Risk ever. Plenty of different game modes and multiple alternate boards (two boards rotating in the free version each week). If you have problems with the coin system the premium version is relatively inexpensive and it carries over to the mobile version. Meeting friends is easy, matchmaking is fast and the ranked play is based on fair play; the staff is dedicated to eliminate collusion.

Edit: The 2020 December update is the BEST. THING. EVER. Fair play is front and center now that you don't get punished by other players for ranking up. They piled up on you if were Expert and above. Not anymore~ :D
