Fixing the appalling AI? Making more events than getting one once every five years? Adding in the mechanics you left out from Ck2 to make it less bare bones? Solving the Byzantine blob and buffing the Mongols and Muslim Emirates? Adding in more Crusader states, a college of Cardinals, and all the other parts needed to make this a realistic medieval sim instead of sitting around and letting modders do it for you?
Paradox: Nope, no thank you

Funny throne room gimmick?
Paradox: Absolutely I'll spend a year of development time on that

On a serious note, everything they have added is a fantastic addition and adds a lot of broad depth to every part of the map, but it feels tacked on because the central problems and missing parts of the game still haven't been implemented yet. In two years time and many more DLC's time this will be considered a really fun addition but for now its just disappointing, and certainly not worth the money.

I'm really not sure why this DLC has so many negative reviews. Although this Civ is a little overpriced compared to its civ 5 counterparts, I think it's justified due to the animation quality and model graphics. However, this DLC is an optional purchase for most people, and you really lose nothing from not owning it.

To address the but-hurt Deluxe edition owners who are angry because they didn't recieve a Brave New World-esque DLC pack, you should really look at the previous game as an example. Civ 5 relased over 10 different map packs, civs and scenarios as paid DLC, and the first expansion, Gods and Kings, was released a full 2 years after the vanilla game. It just goes to show that pre-purchasing anything is a bad idea, no matter how good it sounds.

You know the feeling when you get home on a brisk autumn evening, swing the door open, remove your pristine black oxfords, run to the kitchen to find a beautiful, homemade lasagne just waiting to perfectly seasoned, maybe a cheeky hint of basil, and then eaten in front of the TV?

Well you probably won’t find that here it’s just a pretty decent civ game tbh

A little dry if you ask me

It is a little like a roast dinner, if I may use examples here. It has the meat, maybe a little Yorkshire and some Aunty Bessie's on the side. It even has that suave new cutlery that Toby carvery ordered in last Monday (Stainless steel? Yes please!) But it's a little dry in the mouth. A little underwhelming, if I may.

There's no gravy. No parsnips. No horseradish.

Just disappointing...
