Playing D&D 3.5 to 5th edition as DM. Love it. First game in years that I have been engrossed in and I have been playing nearly everyday for hours co-op since release. 80% D&D 5e and 20% of stuff you can only do in a videogame that no sane DM would do in a game because the pure math/tactics would make take so much time. It's amazing to finally use all the "obscure" rules/moves that almost never come up at the table. It's also hard because alot of stuff a DM would hand wave away is hard-coded here. Not complaining, as it forces you to be really creative and enhances the whole experience. Choices really matter here and things done in hour 1 will matter at hour 30 or 60. Awesome for D&D diehards and, while a great way to "introduce" someone to D&D, you are definitely throwing them in the deep end. Been waiting for a game like this since I learned about D&D. Will run new players to D&D 5E through a saved encounter on here, have them drop in and create their character and show them the basics. If I want to play a full game at 3am, I can and keep going. If I got 3 friends to do a full play through, you can and min-max.

*BUGS
I have had events happen where loading in only the 3rd time, did things "Work" how I thought. I can see how many "new" players would assume that things are just like that, or they did something wrong, but if you are persistent, sometimes it IS the game's fault. That game is not "that" buggy, but they may popup at the weirdest times where it looks like it is just the game. (Random things I ran into: Counterspelled through a door that had ZERO perception I was there, spell attacks before a cutscene and make things friendly then get out to all hostile again, speak with dead first time silence, and then next time full dialogue, (very slight) out of order dialogue story-wise) all minor stuff in the scheme of things with a reload BUT should not happen

This is game will be like all Valve games. Incredible, industry changing, and Patched for 10+ years straight as they are so many interactions, it's crazy. One day, it maybe be very polished, but if at ALL hesitant (as I say, best game I have played in years), wait a year and plan a Baldur's Gate 3 month, take a vacation, leave the kids with the inlaws, when 50+ patches are in making this simply an incredible experience, solo or multiplayer. Would personally only recommend 2 players with 2 companions. They are incredible and add so much to the story.

I love it to my core and am willing to put up with the bugs and submit a bug report for each one. These are the games we need. Full story RPGs where choices have a really lasting effect through out the game with rich gameplay AND cinematics.
