I was a little hesitant on getting this game, since I am not a fan of detective stories with supernatural elements. I thought it might make the mystery too easy. I was dead wrong, and I am really glad I gave this game a chance.

The story is excellent and very well written. It kept me engaged from start to finish, and the characters are easily one of the strongest parts of the game. They gradually grew on me, and I became very invested in them as the story progressed. Case 4 in particular was an absolute blast to play through. It was insane.

There are some flaws, but they do not take away much from the overall experience. The English translation can occasionally feel a bit off, which sometimes makes it harder to understand what the game is asking for. However, this only happens rarely, and most of the time the text is clear and easy to follow. The clue combination system can also be a bit frustrating at times. Some questions feel vague, and it is not always obvious which evidence you are expected to present. There are moments where multiple conclusions seem correct and logical, but the game only accepts one specific answer.

Even with these issues, the story and characters made them super easy to look past. The writing carries the experience. The ending left a lasting emotional impact on me. It was something that I wasn't able to let go, and I genuinely want a sequel to continue the story. Overall, this is a great game that I would recommend.

Out of all the detective games I have played, of the Devil is easily the best. With every episode, it gets closer to becoming my favorite game of all time.

I played on "Highroller Mode", an increased difficulty setting. Because of that, I cannot speak for casual players, but in this mode, every decision feels final and every mistake hurts, even if the game is still quite forgiving.

What makes the game so exhilarating is how little it holds your hand. You are given evidence, articles, terminologies, and character profiles, but the game rarely tells you what actually matters. You have to read everything carefully, connect details yourself, and build your own understanding of events. Sometimes, a tiny detail is enough to completely unravel a case.

There are pretty much zero "main character hints", just you and the evidence. And when everything clicks, it feels incredible. Piecing together the truth before the courtroom does, then countering every argument with your own evidence immediately is incredibly satisfying.

The writing in this game is top-notch. Every sentence feels deliberate, constantly building the characters and the world around them. The dialogues aren't just there to move the plot forward, they reveal motivations, hint at larger conflicts, and often hide crucial details in plain sight.

What is even more impressive is how the cases go beyond simple crime-solving. To succeed, you need to understand the world, its current events, politics, corporations, characters, and their motivations, and how all of them connect. The game expects you to pay attention to everything, and if you don't, you will get lost.

The presentation is excellent. The music shifts perfectly with the tone, sometimes enhancing tension, sometimes cutting out entirely at just the right moment. The characters are full of personality, making even long dialogue sequences engaging rather than tiring.

If there is one potential downside, it is that this design will not be for everyone. The lack of guidance and heavy reading can feel overwhelming, especially for players expecting a more relaxed or guided experience.

But for those willing to fully engage with it, of the Devil offers one of the most rewarding and intellectually satisfying experiences in the genre.

Absolute peak of a game. 10/10.

Had an absolute blast playing The Darkest Files, played it on the hardest difficulty. It felt incredibly rewarding digging through case files, talking to witnesses, spotting contradictions and lies, and piecing everything together.

One of the best aspects of the game is how the cases are handled. There's a lot of reading involved and not much hand-holding. You're simply thrown the case files and left to figure things out on your own. You read, read, and read and it feels so satisfying when everything finally clicks.

The witnesses are very well done, their testimonies felt so real. It wasn't just about what they said. It was their choice of words, their tone, and their fluency. All that combined gave them so much personality.

I honestly didn't expect myself to learn much about the Nazis but I did, which was great. Pity that this game only has 2 cases though. I wish it had more. There are a few bugs here and there, but they didn't really impact any of my gameplay.

This game is freaking amazing. Beautiful art. Combat feels good. Controls are super fluid, responsive and snappy, allowing the player to cancel animation and execute flashy movements and attacks. The bosses are phenomenal.

9/10

Good game, but I think it could've been better.

What I find really cool is that different units have different job paths, allowing you to create diverse teams and therefore giving SFD huge replay value.

What I loved most about SFD is the importance of positioning
- Different attacks has different ranges
- Units can push enemies or allies to reposition into traps or safety. Pushing can also deal damage if it collides with a wall or another unit
- Using allies to body block
- Bonus backstab damage if you are attacking or attacked from behind. You can prevent your units from being backstabbed by having your back against the wall or using other units to body block
- Destructible debris that may provide more points of attack

Despite my love for this game, this game can be incredibly frustrating; blocking, dodging, and resisting attacks. This is more of a personal problem though :'(
A lot of the time, the game just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me and enemies decide to avoid my attacks despite attacking them from the sides which results in an unfair game over. It would be nice to know the probability of successfully landing my attacks and how to increase that probability.

Absolutely amazing game. I highly recommend this for people who love theory-crafting and bullet hell games. The art is beautiful. The animations are fluid and visually pleasing. The music is one of a kind, especially Violette's theme.
