Early Access Review
Supermarket Simulator is surprisingly addicting -- When I finished my first play session I was astonished to see "6.5 hours played" on the Steam page. It's got that "just one more shift, I gotta get ___ upgrade" gameplay loop, which is always a winning formula.
If all aspects of gameplay were dropped on you at once, the game would feel overwhelming and I think I would have put it down. But you start in a small store doing everything yourself, and incrementally implement things like organized shelves, employees, stock keeping, customization, etc.
The game gives you natural feedback on how to improve your store. Are you running out of stock on shelves? Maybe your next upgrade should be storage space and a stocker. Are you starting to get bogged down at the cash register? Get yourself a cashier. Are you simply selling too much to keep up at the moment? Raise those prices!
The game's current state feels unfinished, yet I find I am really enjoying its current complexity. I enjoy being needed on the sales floor, ringing people up, putting away stock, and restocking shelves-- it's a Diner Dash style mad dash. My hope is that I don't get to the point where it becomes a manager simulator, but 12 hours in I have so much work to do before that could be a possibility.
As a customization fan, my request from the devs would be more options to customize! A simple logo making tool (or image uploader?) that would appear on worker's aprons and your store sign. Advertisements or art to place on walls, floor mats, different types of lights-- all the stuff that makes my store different from other players'. The paint and flooring is a great start, keep it going!
Overall, the price to fun ratio for this game is great and I highly recommend giving it a try if you like simulators that have you right in the action!

This is a game absolutely worth full price, and if you see it on sale, there's no excuse not to buy it. The game keeps throwing more at you and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves trading card games or even puzzles -- with the small margin of damage needed for each victory, each turn almost becomes a puzzle to solve to maximize damage (or minimize your own damage). Buy the damn game!

Spelunky is my favorite indie game of all time. It rewards your improved skill in the same way other games reward you with permanent upgrades, with more exploration and accomplishment. The mishmash of mythologies is really fun as well. I HIGHLY recommend you give it a try!
