I would recommend this game ideally if one likes a challenge. This game is fun and interesting with many challenges to keep the player on their toes. I would only say that the game can also be unfair. In my most recent play through, after mostly completing the story scenario, I almost maxed out hope completely until a major plot moment ruins your progress. I went from almost max hope to almost being cast out with 2 days to fix the situation. Despite my efforts by building faith buildings, already having a fighting arena, a public house, and calling for prayer while also fulfilling a promise, I was still cast out of my city (Which doesn't make sense to me if you're the person actually making a difference to keep everyone alive).
Like I said though, this game is incredibly challenging and has an interesting story to keep the playing interested. I just feel that there really are times that it can be unrealistic and unfair while in trying to be difficult. I would just try different strategies to avoid rage quitting and save often with different files if you are prone in doing so.

Waited years for this game to be complete only to find that it is yet another disappointing reminder that game developers are ripping people off while being beyond any negative impact as we cannot be refunded. Highly disappointed and will never buy games from Double Fine again as I am doing with all other developers who are practicing this "abandonware" practice.

This game is essentially the most challenging PVO (Player Versus Offline) game I have played. I honestly stopped liking this game a while ago but I would definetly give it another try if I have friends who want to play. I recommend this game's mechanics and beauty but not the community and overall experience. I haven't played in the last month but I played this game religiously previously. If you are looking for a game that is raw survival involving food management, construction, and scavenging then this game is for you. If you want to play with a community then that is a different story.

This games is designed to essentially live life as a raider. You start out naked and work your way up to gain the most resources while huge mass of other players are also competing. You start out only with a rock and eventually you will have a gun to defend your stuff. If you do happen to make friends that won't actually steal from you then this game will be consume your time with fun and friendly banter but it can also destroy your faith in humanity as you login to find your property pillaged.

As time goes on the game gets slow, it's fun for a while but you eventually get tired of having to either own enough stuff to build something solid enough to stop most attacks (concrete for example) or hide. The people who play this game devolve into three types; the raiders, the desperate survivors, and then the players who came with friends who also liked the game but wanted friends to both help and be able to log off without worrying. The raiding players are ones who played long enough or cheated (which happened a long time ago but not recently to me) who hunt new players for sport and steal your stuff just out of entertainment or to cement their power. The desperate are players who spend their time playing to survive and hide until they are powerful enough to be a raider themselves. The friends group are the rarest but the best players to play with as they rotate online and are able to render help to players.

What really spoiled the game is the server wiping, hacking, and community. Unless you play with friends or happen to find some online then be prepared to play the entire time with a hightened heart rate and fits of rage while also being anxious offline wondering if someone has found your base yet. After spending hours uppon hours of playing to become powerful enough to ward off the raiders and other hostiles (zombies) then the worst happens, you encounter a hacker. You spent all the time making a machine gun, ammo, and scavenging materials to be able to play without fear just to have your bullets do nothing and have a teleporting troll blink into your fortress and raid everything. If you finally do wait for the hacker to be kicked or get bored there is the worst thing that happens; a server wipe.

As it should be expected of early access games, server wipes are devestating for players who have sunk more than a couple of hours into a server. You finally find your friend, build a base, and crafted some decent items only to find that everyone is running around like they have nothing to lose after the admins gift everyone with rocket launchers, guns, and other weapons only seen after at least a day of mining, crafting, and scavenging schematics.

All in all I would highly recommend this game to someone who wants a SURVIVAL GAME. Suvival does not always mean friends, given things, and expecting everyone to be reasonable. I would also recommend it to someone who wants a challenge in online multiplaying.

Buying this game three years ago I was very hopeful to see a new take on the classic game POPULOUS, a interesting game whereby the players are able to influence their followers to beat the opposing team via terrain manipulation and other powers. I was truly excited to see the modern version of this game as I had, at the time, seen games where RTS games featured planetary conquest. After seeing this I was very excited to see what GODUS would feature and the idea of an MMO.

At first I thought the game was fun in the first few sessions but as time went on it was pretty obvious in about 3 hours of gameplay I found that the gameplay was rapidly degenerating into busy work and boredom. I gave the game a few more tries and then set it aside to wait for the game to be worked on. I thought that the art work and the promises assuring, along with Molyneux being in charge it was bound to get better. Oh was I wrong.

Well three years later, two major patches later, and I can tell that nothing substantial has been added. The war mechanic was fun for about an hour and then becomes really dull. It just made the game all the more disappointing as it just reinforced the simplistic garbage that is made for phones.

I also read on the game's RECENT NEWS tab that there is no release date and that it isn't clear who is still working on this project anymore as the lead developer decided to leave. The fact that the game isn't finished four years later is just unacceptable. I certainly hope the developers will finish this game in whatever state it is and move on to something else to which I wish the best of luck after all this Godus debacle.
