One of the best grand strategy games I have seen.

Three months after this game launched, believing that the developers patched out the major bugs that made this game inadequate, I decided to give it another shot. I started the game and decided to start a new campaign as Kislev. Made it about 75% through the loading screen before it crashed to desktop.

I can once again recommend this game now that online multiplayer is restored. It had been taken down in response to an exploit, and the developers took significantly longer to restore multiplayer than they had led the community to expect from them.

As far as actual gameplay goes, this is a really fun game to play. The controls are very responsive, and when enemies kill you, it always feels like you know what you could have done differently in order to survive, whether it is positioning or timing or stamina management. The PvE experience in this game is so fair that you can even make up for any deficit in levels or equipment by simply having enough skill, something that is almost unheard of in this genre. That said, certain builds and preparation can make some of the boss fights significantly easier.

Dark Souls 3 is one of the best cooperative experiences you can find in video games. It is one of the few games where playing with - or against - random people on the internet actually feels good most of the time. Getting into the multiplayer in this game is much easier than in the other two Dark Souls games because the items are available in the central hub and the password matching system is easy to use.

The big problem that makes or breaks a TW game IMO is the endgame. Does it stay challenging? Does it stay interesting? Does it feel like the game is playing "fair"? In this one, I feel like the answer is yes. The challenges you face near the end of the game feel like a natural progression of the story of your empire, and while they require you to be prepared with a strong military, they are challenges that can be reasonably overcome.
