Enjoyed the game for the few hours that I played it. I have no desire to link my steam account with Playstation plus. Had I known this was a requirement beforehand I never would have purchased the game.

Just started playing, so I'm not in the higher MMR range yet. Regardless, it's been loads of fun. Hooking iridescent survivors to death as a bronze killer, after they taunt, is my favorite thing so far.

41 hours is not indicative of how much there is to do in this game. I think I've maybe seen 50% of the total map and even that generous estimate would be at ground level. Loved every minute of the game I've played so far. Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

*Update* 12MAY17

TL;DR - Free to play but not the most polished game ever. Recommend? Yes

*** The, "I want a better explanation" version ***

- Four factions with various classes for each; one class locked behind paywall for each faction

- Unlockable gear and abilities (In game resources for gear and general xp for class abilities)

- Spending real world money on items only gets you cosmetics, mostly

- Spending real world money on the paid version gets you accelerated resources, xp, and the locked class in each faction

- Devs constantly working on the game

- New players who don't understand teamwork, the game mechanics, and don't care to learn (It's a F2P game, after all)

- Environment rendering issues "ghost barricades" ( Not abundant, just annoying to find )

- Players complaining about another weapon, class, or faction being over powered (Each faction complains about something)

- 100+ ping despite being in the same country as the server ( NA )

- Servers are not region locked. Expect players ranging from Russia to Chile in the same match

P2W - Elite Classes with no available counterpart able to be constructed. They attempt to mitigate this by limiting the number of uses the elite has to 1 per match. $25 for a class you can use once per match. Mind you, all elite and veteran classes come with signs above their heads annotating that they are special and become bullet, bomb, and melee sponges.

TLDR: Game won't work if you are running it from anyplace other than the C: drive

The NCSoft launcher automatically maps to a non-existent file string on the C: drive...where the game is not installed. It wouldn't be a hard fix other than the launcher will not allow me to correct the file path to the HD I have my Steam files on. Re-installing the launcher automatically attempts to install to the C: drive as well with no option to specify a location.

Additionally, there is not an actual .exe for the game in the Steam libarary that I've been able to find to run the game directly in order to bypass the launcher. Since Steam is supposed to be the launcher and all...

Early Access Review
I've ridden a parasaur, tamed a small pack of those spitting dilos, and then went hunting along the beach with them ( the spitting kind from OG Jurassic Park...the one that kills the programmer stealing DNA).

- I've enjoyed the first couple of hours that I've played it. Most of the rage appears to be from people who either do not understand that it is an early access game or do not have the patience to let the developers work through minor issues. Give it a bit of time if you are having trouble getting into a game. Or better yet, get your own server to play on with friends.

- The Devs have released multiple patches over the few days that the game has been out; correcting errors that have been reported by the players. Shows that they are actively working to create a better game experience, no? You are part of the development process and, the fact that its early access and not final release, should be a good indication that there will be some issues.

- Yes there is lag, yes the graphic optimization and needs work, and sometimes there is a landshark in the ocean that will jump out of the water to devour you (I think that part is kind of funny).

- The crafting system is nice and not having to guess what to combine to make tools and clothes is very helpful. Even then, there are tricks to learn that speed up that process. Resource gathering isn't a horrible experience.

- Giant floating pylons are good land mark indicators for locating friends when you don't have the map uncovered. No idea what a broodmother is, but apparently you can summon one from those pylons... Boss fight? I hope so!

Overall, it is an early access game that I believe many people who play open world survival games would enjoy. There are issues that are actively being addressed by the developers and, given enough time, I can see myself racking up a lot more than 15.3 hours in this game.

Overall, I have to say RWR is alot more fun than I would have thought and is well worth the price.

Public matches are, as expected, frustrating and lack any semblance of teammwork. The AI will destroy you for this. I'd suggest getting a few buddies together and setting up a decent squad with varied equipment.

The enemy AI will take cover and attemp to flank your friendly positions and often work together alot better than expected. With that said, many of your matches will be spent yelling at the screen in frustration because the AI is capable of making 360 no scope headshots after jumping off a building. You on the otherhand are incapable of such greatness. All hail skynet.

First Impression

"OMFG...WTF...just....wha!?" Yep, those were my first words after having my door broken down and then shot by an M4. All this after building a small hovel near a radioactive town and working to get some cool gear. At least I thought the shotgun was cool; not so much anymore.

The game is pretty harsh for new players. Almost any server you decide to work on will have already established players. By that I mean those people who started on the server many moons ago and will grief the ♥♥♥♥ out of you, just because they're bored. Its frustrating and intense; having to rush to get another building up and secured before being wiped out for your resources. Or even worse, trapped in what was supposed to be your home but has now turned into your grave.

I'd recommed Rust to those people with a good deal of patience or a friend or two willing to battle the established griefers. A bit of a heads up though; your character does not save learned blueprints between servers and with a wave of the admin's hand the server can be cleared entirely of buildings.
