What is there to say about this game that hasn't been said? This is true perfection. This alone justifies the existence of video games as an art form. This game is flawless and, most importantly, it is life-affirming. Play it and then tell everyone you know to play it and live vicariously through them, because you can only experience something like this once in a lifetime.

Early Access Review
Pretty fun but gets bland and repetitive with the current amount of content. Most of the mechanics are fairly surface-level and clearly unfinished as of right now. I was pretty excited to see where this game actually went, as the dev was very active and seemed super supportive as well.

The main reason for the negative review is of the Developer's weird right-wing grift... Basically, a handful of annoying reviewers got upset at his statement that he did not plan to add support for same-sex marriages, and he has since spiraled into alt-right "rainbow mafia" type rhetoric. He claimed the community was "infiltrated" by lgbt people, and now it's overrun with weirdos spouting bigotry and praising him for standing up against "the woke," yet he seems to have no issue with these people, likely because they unjustly fund and gas up his game. Just look at the recent reviews here, it's gross.

I feel so torn with this game that I would honestly leave a neutral review if I could. While the bulk of this game is a fun and cute homage to Zelda and Dark Souls, the last ~15% of it is maybe the most frustratingly tedious experience I have ever had with any piece of media. It was so bad that I eventually started looking up solutions to get it over with sooner. One puzzle near the end even felt like you HAD to look it up lest you risk making one mistake and have to start the painfully long process over again.

The aesthetics are great, the level design is great, the music is great, the main gimmick is unique, and the combat is fun despite its flaws, but the endgame is a pretentious and tedious mess. Basically, (very very minor spoiler ahead) If you can be content with just getting the "bad ending" it's pretty great, but if you have any completionist tendencies, you may want to stay away. Ignore the common sentiment that this game is a life-changing experience that will stick with you forever; it's not Disco Elysium or Outer Wilds or Dark Souls 1. Tunic is best enjoyed as exactly what it looks like on the surface: Zelda if it was Dark Souls.

If that's what you want from this game (and you don't mind spoilers), then keep playing until you feel like you have nothing left to do but follow the golden path and collect fairies, then fight the final boss.

"Potentially the best game I've ever played, however I can't bring myself to leave a positive review until FromSoftware brings back the multiplayer. There is no excuse for it to have been down for this long." That was my original review. FromSoft has since fixed the multiplayer; I stand by my statement that Dark Souls 3 is potentially the best game I've ever played. Buy this game.
