Way less jank than the first game.

The story is compelling, the world building and character development are really strong, and the controls have been tightened up a bit since the first game. Although it's fairly easily to become overpowered early in the game, it holds true with the narrative of the main character not being as useless as he was at the start of the first game.

Early Access Review
Despite it being in beta still, the game is engaging and great to play with friends. Can't wait for this to be done!

Despite a few meaningless glitches and some lack of polish, this game has been engaging, deep, and very enjoyable.

The game is visually stunning, and the HD sound pack is incredibly well done. The voice acting is top notch and the flow between "urban" and "rural" environments makes for a very seamless world. The main and secondary story lines are enticing, and there are some very memorable "divergences" in secondary plots scattered around the world.

The combat system is unique and a bit difficult to master at first. The game doesn't offer much in the way of support to help the player get up to speed with the mechanics, but this suits the story line well. After about 30 hours of play, there hasn't been a copy/paste issue with sub quests (a la Fallout 4), so the supporting story lines are still interesting and unique.

The character levelling, specialisations, and inventory management all leave a bit to be desired for those looking for tried and true fantasy experience - but this actually falls in line with the flavour of the game. The story doesn't appear to be about some raving mad man who can carry three horses worth of goods and take down a dragon by shouting at it; its more grounded and real by nature, so the character growth is more human and realistic.

Overall this game has been a great surprise, and I would suggest it to anyone who enjoys:

1. Visually appealing open worlds
2. Strong story telling
3. Immersive sound design
4. Accurate portrayal of historical figures, locales, and lifestyles
