I am the target audience. Grew up playing Wolf3D, DOOM, DUKE3D, BLOOD and QUAKE. It's not 100% like any specific oldie but the influence is there. It is definitely it's own thing and worth your time.

If you enjoy a solid single player FPS, buy it. Something inspired by the original F.E.A.R and Half-Life 1. Gun-play is SOLID. Graphics are crunchy but modern (lots of options too). The art style is FANTASTIC. Lots of fun.

One of the best games to play with some friends. Even though the game has chunky old school graphics (which I LOVE btw) it is still super immersive with crazy good audio design, make sure to play the game with its own voice comms feature instead of using Discord! The art style and vibes are epic. I just wish there was the option to increase the resolution but I guess it is on purpose so you can't easily make out threats down hallways until its too late. Definite BUY. BUY IT NOW!!!

Better than D4

Brilliant rogue-lite shooter with so much charm! Very re-playable, razer sharp old school FPS gameplay, unique mini-games for upgrading. I cannot recommend Nightmare Reaper enough! Just buy it and play the heck out of it!!!

My first souls game. It's a very good game. The world is captivating and epic. The graphics are good but on close inspection they aren't at the same level as other AAA games, although the art style makes up for it MASSIVELY. I don't think any other game has made dark high fantasy look this good, the world and the atmosphere feels like you're in a painting. The game is challenging as per the norm for soulsbornes but due to the large open spaces and ability to run away from MOST situations, the game gives you a lot of freedom to play and level up at your own pace. I've heard from some "Souls" elitists that it is not perfect and that the other games do some things better, but that is to be expected that no game is perfect. This is a massive open world and there are some areas of tedious and repetitive content, many mini dungeons are samey and some mini-bosses are boring the second or third time you fight a variant. Still, I highly recommend buying Elden Ring. It's something every gamer should experience.
