YOU need this software, literally. Even if you have a beefy system, this thing does wonders on every game you play, even older ones too! I'm shocked how great this thing is for emulators too as well, especially the games I run on PCSX2 like the Ace Combat games.

This software is too good to pass up, and it was definitely worth the investment. For people on a very tight budget to upgrade, this is literally the difference between a $7 dollar software and a $200 or even a $1000 GPU.

Game's fun whether solo or with friends but..........

I can definitely vouch that if you play with friends, you're gonna have a TON of fun. To a point that you guys could literally make a storybook out of your deep sea adventures.

Fun gameplay with decent replay value (for now depending on FatShark's plans to add more content), with the class overhaul arguably the biggest reason why it remains that way. Four Classes, Veteran, Zealot, Psyker and Ogryn, and all four are ready to receive your worth with good flexibility on how you want your classes to work. Either it'd be a one shot trickster, some crowd control maniac or whatever, it's fun. Queuing with strangers like any other multiplayer games will either be agonizing or fun, I've had more of the latter, people WILL try their butts off to help you.

As for the story, I didn't care much for it. That doesn't mean it's bad, its just that this is a horde shooter. I care less about what they're telling me. You hand me a weapon, I will use it, that's it.

Sound design wise it's pretty good. Sound cues letting you know which specialist or elite is coming over to ruin your day. Music? Composed solely by Jesper Kyd, nailed it in the park, and if you don't know him, he composed music for most of the Assassin's Creed series & the Borderlands trilogy.

Performance is a hit or miss despite post-launch patches, its more CPU bound than it is GPU unless you're playing at 4K, so expect your fps jumping around and about. I recommend using DLSS (for NVIDIA users) or FSR if you hate dipping below 60, let alone 30. Pray for Fatshark to add FSR Frame Generation once its ready. As for bugs and other inconveniences? Expect some game crashes, being flung out of the map and etc. Does it happen constantly? Nope, but expect it to happen, and you can rejoin the match when you launch the game after a crash.

That's about what I have to say about this game. I'm just praying that Fatshark bloat this game more with content because it's BEGGING for more. For the time being, they've been stupid slow, and the roadmap they once had got shelved.

With that all said, this is a fun game. Just don't buy it at full price like I said before so you won't have some bit of remorse when you decide to drop this.

(edit 27/09/24) - upped to an RTX 3090, still CPU bottlenecked despite being at 1440p. FSR 3.1 is out with framegen so I'd suggest you use it if you want. FPS lows are slightly improved but again, Fatshark should do better just a tad bit on that area.

The item rework and psyker updates upped the game's replay value. Some two new missions since my last review. It was a slog to try and get the best stats, perks and blessings before it but now? Yeah, it's a quality of life change and I like it so far. Some bugs are ironed out like being flung out of the map.

EDIT long overdue (November 2025):

They killed it. They didn't give this game a chance at all.

(Old review from 2022)
mecha.

My review of this game may change considering playtime, updates and etc.

If you're looking for a balanced game, chances are you won't find much here right now considering some of the mobile suits are basically broken by function and purpose. That makes sense if you have watched any of the Gundam animes. Like Overwatch, your gameplay experience varies by whatever mobile suit you play as, so expect a swap between smashing the whole enemy team or getting curbstomped because of the usual bad team or you being bad (like me ;( ) The game got your usual gamemodes that Overwatch has, so it should be common sense as to what to do in the matches you play.

If you're looking for casual fun, this game does give it plenty of it. Serious fun? Might want to look elsewhere, maybe.

If you have heard of the disconnect issues from the other reviews, they are correct. You do indeed get penalized whenever you get disconnected or your game crashed in a CASUAL game. Omegalul. They'll probably fix this at some point, but it's something to give a heads up to.
