You get what you pay for, though even $8 may be steep for this.

It's perfect.

I've grown up playing Halo. It's part of my childhood.
All of the multiplayers were okay, some better than others. But this is perfection.

As an audio engineer, the first thing that jumps out is the sound design. They've done an amazing job at making every punch, every gunshot, every impact, be the punchiest it possibly can. The mix is so clean, the bass is powerful, the transients are vigorous, and it sounds great on all systems. Everything is synonymous, and I'm incredibly impressed.

Second thing that I noticed is the feeling of weight. You truly feel like a 1100-lb warrior. The jumping is still a bit floaty, but it gives you a good feel for a Spartan's leg strength. When you slide, you hit the ground like a wrecking ball. When you punch, you feel like a monster. A great job all around.

Finally, the fight. It's chaos. That's not a bad thing. That's the intention. If you're a pro gamer (which I am not), you're used to this. If you're new, it may be jarring. Just keep in mind, that's the intended effect. You have to be aware of your surroundings, you have to focus on breaking shields, and in big-team battles, you have to coordinate with your teammates - all things that a Spartan MUST be able to do. It's truly the most immersive experience that I've had in a Halo game.

If I could draw loose comparison, it feels similar to Planetside 2. There may be some inspiration from Overwatch, but that's just my speculation.
However, it is grittier, bulkier, and far more satisfying.
I don't even have an issue with being killed, strictly because of the jarring sound design of player death.
Everything is perfect, in my humble opinion, and I'll be playing this for a long time.

7/10 -- Fulfills my childhood obsession with severe weather.

Don't expect to see cities in disarray as people rush to escape impending doom, dodging through backed-up traffic just to snap the perfect picture of that rare, powerful supercell -- there isn't any of that.

In fact, the (very limited) map is quite desolate, not an NPC in sight. Fully expected; who would live in a town where a tornado touches down every 2 minutes? This takes away from the immersion a bit.
Some ways this could be improved:

1) Add NPCs (obviously).

2) Decrease spawn time of supercells, especially tornado-producing ones. This forces the player to focus more on the "day in the life" aspects of true storm chasing, such as researching, scouting, connecting with other chasers, and so on. This would in turn create instant satisfaction anytime a 'nader touches down. "Finally! Get in the truck, Martha!"

3) Increase the map size or create several maps that can be traveled to. This is a small dev team, so nobody will be upset by loading screens between maps. The variety will be appreciated.

However... Don't let this detract from the experience. You can feel the amount of time and effort put into the storms. The tornadoes, despite being very frequent, are extremely realistic and absolutely terrifying. It's truly an awe-inspiring experience to witness.

Unfortunately, the dev team is very quiet, and this is troublesome to gamers due to the amount of scamming going on right now. Heck, this game hasn't had an update in over a year. Clearly the devs are passionate about this, there's no denying that. But they need to start taking this seriously, or the release of OUTBRK will stomp this game out for good.

TL;DR - If you like tornadoes, $12 is a steal.

After following NMS since its 2013 anouncement, loading up the game felt very surreal. The experience you get in NMS is truly like no other.

Every negative review essentially addresses the same two problems:
"I can't run it."
or
"It's boring."

First off, Hello Games did not spend 3 years making a PC game, they spent 3 years making a PS4 game that they ported to PC. They knew there would be issues, so they postponed the PC release for a few days after the PS4 release. After previous postponed release dates, and Sean Murray getting many death threats because of it, Hello Games felt the need to just "put it out."
Was it a mistake? I don't know, maybe. I run the game fine, so I'm not crying about it.

Second, the game is only boring if it's a type of game that bores you.
Crime films may bore you, but that doesn't make The Godfather a bad movie.

Space exploration has always been something I dream of; one of those thoughts that gives me a fuzzy feeling. The experience is truly extrordinary and I hope anyone who feels the same as I will enjoy it.
