Same as valheim, an atmospheric world with a fat grind that isn't very rewarding.

I'll give it a year.

Good core concept, long way to go. Gameplay is decent enough but the overall performance of the game is not where it needs to be. I'll give it a year.

1.5 years later: This has become an overpriced early access game and next to nothing has changed except the performance - that got worse >:(

Serves me right buying another Offworld product after vowing never to buy another.

Absolute gem of a game that I'm glad my friend showed me and here's why:

+ Near perfect balance of PVP and PVE to make both important without one of them feeling trivial.
+ A wide range of factions each with their own playstyles and so far I believe them to be very well balanced (this may be subject to change as I get DLC factions).
+ Random gen maps for both "random" and "balanced" maps but balanced maps are exactly that provided you know how to work with what you have.
+ 3 lane research designed to make you plan ahead for what you are going to do rewards more competent players.

My only gripes are as follows:
- Regardless of if the company needs money or not, half the factions are DLC. My issue here isn't the cost rather the 'pick and mix' type of sales method that means I don't get the whole game flat out. Again IK it's a small dev team but a free faction to play would be nice as a planned final update.
- Initial learning curve is somewhat high and in multiplayer people often don't communicate. This wouldn't matter so much if the game didn't have as many options or allys to help each other (i.e. wolf/bear clan clears tiles for another player with worse eco because they themselves get cheaper/better military (This is simply a note on the community and I have only gotten to the 2nd tier in ranked play, so this is aspect of the review could change again in future)).

Other than that I thoroughly enjoy this game and would highly encourage someone to buy the game if they don't mind the heavy focus early game on economy building.

The game feels very unpolished all the way down to the movement, especially on multiplayer (2 other players, not server lag)

Every1 creams their underwear over this game and yet it has such a mind numbing grind. Credit where credit is due; the game is atmospheric, doesn't hold your hand and has a good setting but the grind ruins it.

Early Access Review
Make Foxhole less grindy and more accessible to normal people with real life commitments or it will remain ♥♥♥♥.

Edit: people blindly defending this game with 10-20hrs can't make even the smallest jumps in logic so this is my overall reasons for saying the game is bad:

-Buggy combat, infantry especially (can't hit people on terrain higher than 5-10m but they can hit you regardless),
-Combat itself is just WW1 simulator running at a frontline and dying over and over until you take a mere fistful of land.
-No clan management system until release (clan tags need to be put in steam name, squads reset each month without option to turn this on/off).
-Unbalanced vehicles even to this day.
-To contribute to unlocking new vehicles in any meaningful way (actually getting something in return e.g. in the form of a BP kit) you have to grind for at least 2 hours hitting piles of metal.
-Reddit tier karma chat system which clans abuse to vote down voices of dissent (social credit systems can actually f*ck off).
-Chat censoring system that can't be turned off in the options.

The only 'fun' to come from this game is in winning the war, so if you don't win people take it to heart because of the large time sink with no reward. It's a no-lifer 2nd job to fill empty voids in people too lazy to learn an instrument or go to the gym. But yuh idk what I'm talking about, must be a troll, 250 hours apparently doesn't count for anything these days...
