This is one of those rare games in which you never feel prepared. Every battle makes you consider the loses you WILL experience, and the potential gains. It's brutally difficult, sacrifices must be made, and even small bad decisions are punished.

HOWEVER, it is not as RNG reliant as some people have said. While there is an element of it, you can always get to the bosses, even on Pioneer (Very hard) difficulty, as long as you carefully consider your moves, decisions, and the sacrifices you make. It is exactly the kind of deceitfully fresh approach to the genre I, and I'm sure, some others, were looking for.

As I've implied, it's definitely not a game for everyone. It shouldn't be your first deck builder, and if, for instance, it would put you off a game for the objectively correct decision you make, to be having to sacrifice a card/creature you're heavily invested in, this also isn't for you.

Please overlook the negative reviews if you feel this is a game for you. If games like this didn't push the difficulty as this has, there'd be nothing for all of the other people like myself, in which deck builders have begun to feel stale.

It's a good game. If you enjoy stuff like Slay the Spire, you'll enjoy it. It has good meta progression, and unlocks keeping you invested. However, imo there's one massive area it falls short in... Each game is played with both a primary and an allied clan, but there's absolutely no synergy between those clans. Your clan choices effectively dictate the card keywords and associated mechanics you have access to, of which you can mix and match, but clans don't really supplement each other. The cards keep to simple keyword abilities, which, while making it accessible, rapidly causes it to feel very samey upon the realisation that there isn't much clever you can build into.

It's pretty good. Lost some of my respect for them for removing the demo when the game released. Having played the demo convinced me to buy the game at full price on release, something I never do, and they really should've kept it available

If the MORE you wanted was just killing red dudes, this is the game for you.

If the MORE you wanted was an interesting, and rather unique story, not told via optional secrets, you're better off sticking with the first game.
