They managed to perfectly recreate the feeling of playing an old Mechwarrior game, complete with campy writing.

It's a hell of a lot of fun; my dad and I used to play Mechwarrior when I was a kid, and now we play this game and both enjoy it. There's plenty of space for your skill to make the difference in a fight, so you can see yourself improving, not just your mech.

Play with other people if you can, because the AI lancemates can often be a liability. When I start a career, I have to wait until I have medium mechs for the AI to pilot because they get murked pretty quick in light mechs.

There are an unbelievable number of ways you can customize your species and civilization, with complex tech trees and a wide variety of peaceful or mercantile paths to victory.

Not that I would know, because somehow I always get a ways into the game before realizing that I created another militaristic empire of transcended cyborgs ruling over a nerve-stapled worker class comprised of the survivors of conquered species.

10/10 Antagonist simulator, would crush the hopes of free peoples again

Well-made and fairly well-balanced combat and force management system, with the full backdrop of MECHWARRIOR lore behind it to create an enjoyable main story.

I once grenaded the sleeping body of a Russian player while other people chanted "Go back to your server"

Can't recommend this game highly enough.

With more playtime, I've found that despite players complaining about changes, Rust has stayed Rust. It has stayed both punishing and rewarding, while adding new ways for your life to be ended. Still a 10/10 game in my book

tl;dr - Game is abandoned and overpriced, but if you pick it up for $5 you get your money's worth and have a new game to spend some weekend afternoons playing.

Years ago, this game was fun. Nothing in this game hadn't been done before, but it brought a lot of things together in an enjoyable package, and new content was being brought out that added facets to the idea of managing a town catering to adventurers and trying to survive the dangers of a D&D world. Now, the game is exactly the same. That's the problem; the end of Towns' beta came purely because the dev wanted more sales for less work.

It's really too bad that the development of this game became something of a hot potato due to fewer sales than the original developer wanted. Towns was developing in an interesting direction, and at the end of the updates had started introducing some enjoyably complicated ways to use basic water channels to make tasks easier. However, it never got to a fully mature stage, instead slowly petering out with updates being smaller and much less often. Eventually, after everyone assumed the dev had already walked away, it was pawned off to make a little more money, to someone who promised new updates but never delivered.

A lot of people are saying not to buy this game because it has been abandoned, and at full price I back that up. But I enjoy it still from time to time, knowing full well what kind of game it is. Maybe you will too?

My recommendation to buy this game comes with the caveat that you should look more closely at what it is, maybe scan through the wiki, and see if you might enjoy it. You can always try it out for an hour, then refund it, you know? But for god's sake don't pay $15 dollars for this, $5 at most. Something to stick on the wishlist and pick up during a steam sale.

Pay attention, ArmA! This is, hands down, the best game I have ever played. Unafraid to set new standards for the gaming industry, Serellan did away with practically everything commonly used in shooter games and built their own system. Such revolutionary features as a customization menu that includes little to no information on how your weapon will perform in combat (but really, who needs to know how many rounds are in the magazine), an advanced LOS system that allows enemies to see, and shoot, out of the back of their heads, and a weapon swapping system that is really more of a lottery, all come together to create the kind of advanced tactical shooter worthy of inclusion in steam.

10/10 would tactically scoot again

EDIT: Who wouldn't want that feeling of playing a game permanently in alpha?
