The game punishes you for playing long term and feels like it wants to copy Dwarf Fortress but has no idea how to.

The game's "Balance" is insanely wacky, ironically the hardest part of the game isn't the early or late game, its the mid game. Leveling is slow and the rewards for leveling up are pitiful, you must conquer enemy tribes to gain EXP to then level up your Malevolence Level. Each level earns you a single point which you can spend to gain Research, which often times is not worth putting so much time into.

Creatures vary wildly on their combat effectiveness, most creatures being pitifully weak and requiring numbers to win anything. Skeleton Warriors are 1 hit at any time away from either being outright killed or made completely useless, having their heads taken off and becoming blind or having a leg broken and having to crawl. Any undead unit is the same way, having to be crushed or chopped up- which is 99% of all damage output from any creature.

Workers mine so pitifully slow for almost no materials, if you want to excavate a large area or want resources you will need to control a pawn and hold spacebar to make the game run as fast as it can to get it done in any logical timeframe. Very fast speed is far slower than just doing this.

Armor is just pointless long term, Adamant armor is far better than Iron, yet it feels like its the same in every way. Basic equipment is almost pointless to make with how little it gives, iron is not worth the time to make, you may as well dig down as fast as possible to get Adamant to have some useful metal at the very least.

Your creatures/Minions will always be weaker than the generated ones regardless of what you do or gear them with, the keeper is always 1 tick away from death, again, regardless of what you do. There is no point to playing this game for more than 1.9 hours, in 1 hour of gameplay you can experience the same as what its like 100 hours in.

A great medieval game that has a wonderful world and mechanics. unfortunately, it will eat your cpu and bring your entire computer to its knees if you slightly tweak anything about it. I changed my graphics settings and suddenly the game damn near bricks my PC and unloads its self. NPCs start unloading and their AI bricks completely. it is absolutely not playable.

A game about building up island nations to economically strangle everyone else while violating the Geneva suggestions by directly targeting civilians to take over rival islands.

Ubisoft's only good product still alive.
