This game should not exist. It’s a WW2 copy/paste of an actually decent game, Combat Master. It’s the exact same game. They didn’t even rename the in-game currency (CM points). That’s greedy and lazy.

It should have been a Combat Master update.

Go play Combat Master instead, it’s way better.

Excellent game, a good "Call of Duty Lite" if you will. It's fun and not as sweaty as BloodStrike.

THE GOOD:
Gameplay is fast, fluid and fun. The games are short and action-packed. Many modes, most are fun. The battle royale mode is also super fast, less than 10 minutes, but again, action-packed.

Keyword here, action-packed. There's not much to complain about, nothing weird. Can't wait for the next season to drop.

THE BAD:
Sound effects are a little basic. I wish they'd improve them. Especially the hits and kills sound effects.

THE UGLY
There are cheaters. So if you spot someone flying, keep killing and hunting them as much as you can, so they have the miserable experience they deserve.

The game crashes after less than a minute, 100% of the time, on my 2 PCs. When it doesn't crash, it lags like hell. It's a complete wreck, a total joke. Did they even test it?

An excellent arena shooter in a modern package. I'm giving it a positive rating, but sadly, its flaws will kill it eventually.

THE GOOD:
- Great classic Quake violence you'll love. Bloody, gory, pure violence.
- Plenty of multiplayer game modes. Team DM, CTF, etc. Good!
- Nice selection of characters, each with one passive and one active ability. Pretty cool.
- The graphics look great, the atmosphere feels good. More on the graphics later though...
- Pretty good bots.

THE BAD:
- You'll most likely get wrecked by pros when you play VS other players. Quake is a game that's very fast and hits very hard.
- The player base isn't that big, for some reason.
- You probably need to learn strafe-running.

THE UGLY
- The game is not optimised very well. Like... not at all. Like, appallingly bad optimisation. Even with a NASA computer, you'll get FPS drops and latency here and there. This has to be one of the reasons the player base isn't that big. I honestly have no idea how a game released in 2016, then supported and updated for 8+ years, still runs so poorly.
- The game is incredibly long to open and load.

It's a shame they didn't optimise it properly. Still, it's a good game IMO, one of the only "modern" arena shooters that are still active.

My favorite battle royale game. It's well done, simple and very effective.

THE GOOD
- Excellent optimisation, cross-platform. Run very well even on old devices or Intel HD Graphics.
- The different game modes and the gunplay are top-notch.
- One of the best Battle Royale mode out there, very forgiving, engaging and fast. No BS, it just works.
- The other game modes like team deathmatch are good too. There's always a lot to do.
- The devs are very active and listen to the community.

THE BAD
- I wish there was more map variety, in every mode. They should take inspiration from Apex Legends or Farlight 84, for a map that's epic and interesting.
- Perhaps there are too many modes, many of which are very similar. It splits the player pool for no reason.
- There's a little too much "full-time dancing, jumping, sliding around" to my taste, but that's me.

THE UGLY
The matchmaking sometimes pairs you with AFK players, which will obviously ruin your game. It will also sometimes put you against absolute champions and your team will get wrecked. Nothing game-breaking, here, but it can discourage some. Don't give up, though, I'm sure they'll refine their matchmaking algorithm. But yeah, it gets pretty sweaty at times.

Amazing game, love it every time. It never gets old. Every game ends in total chaos, so what's not to love?

Note: I've played the game before the Steam release.

There are so many CCG games on the marker right now, there's no reason to play this train wreck of a game.

- Intense lag at all times. Zero optimisation.
- Why does it take 15 seconds + to "find a match" VS the AI?
- The tutorial is long, tedious and can't be skipped. Bring a pillow.
- It's impossible to link your Steam account to your existing, pre-Steam account. Here and there you'll find info about a "Link code", but there's nowhere to input it when you log in. Well done.
- It's DC, that's cool. But most of the cards, spells and units feel awfully bland for some reason...
- 2 heroes at the same time sounds great on paper. But in practice, it gets convoluted and doesn't add much to the game. A poor attempt...

The only good thing I can say about this game, is the power system, that uses colour badges instead of mana points. It's pretty cool and it works well IMO.

Do yourself a favour, don't play this. Go play Marvel Snap, Hearthstone, MTGA, Warhammer 40K: Warpforge, Legends of Runeterra. Jeez, even Artifact is better than this.

November 2025 review update:
The game has become so incredibly greedy, it’s not even fun anymore. New factions and cards are super OP so that people buy into the events. Then when it ends they nerf them down to the ground. Rinse and repeat.

The main game mode is now “skirmish” a +2 power per turn fast game mode. The game loses most of its flavor and complexity. It’s now all about slamming fatties as fast as you can.

New player experience is abysmal.

Every update brings new odd, unexpected changes to the game that gear it more and more towards P2W.

Everything in the game is made complicated and confusing. So many in-game currencies, events, battle-passes, premium this, generic points for that, etc. It’s annoying and often confusing. They’re making the game’s economy sh!t on purpose it would seem.

Sad. A great game killed by a greedy company.

My original review:
I've played Hearthstone and Eternal Card Game for years, and Warpforge has become my go to CCG over the past 2 weeks.

It is more generous and new-player-friendly than Hearthstone. You're able to get your free cards, free wildcards, or a free packs in campaign rewards on most days, by playing 5 to 10 games at most.

30 card decks, 2 copies of each card allowed, 1 for legendaries. You start the game with 2 power. You have a 2-cost leader power card that returns every turn. There's not much randomness or BS card draws. It's straight to the point and it works very well. The factions have interesting cards and specific mechanics, and they all feel different.

The devs listen to the community feedback, which is very good. I'm excited for the future of this game. Definitely recommend it.

A simple bite-sized 4X game. It's cute, relaxing, and quick. Games don't last very long, so you're able to achieve a full playthrough in one sitting.

The UI could be better. That's about it.

For its price, it delivers. Especially if you're looking for a 4x-quick fix.

This game is a lot of fun. It's surprisingly easy to progress and unlock things.
