It's a beautiful experience that I lack the words to accurately express my appreciation for. The clay art, the beautiful soundtrack and the way the world is built and conveyed to you through its environments and story is genuinely beautiful.

The real psychological horror is that I'm not given the option to hug Thorn.

An emotional rollercoaster with beautiful worldbuilding and characters, with incredible attention to detail to really deliver on the time loop premise and make sure that there's something new to discover every loop.

10 / 10, would go fishing 78 times again.

After the recent update the game is now riddled with bugs. The fact that there are unofficial downgrade patches to revert the changes in this update should say enough.

Just like chef, this DLC could've used a little longer on the stove. It feels pretty undercooked, with the two new unlockable survivors being extremely underwhelming, and seeker feeling only really decent to play in coop. Chef and the other unlockable character are incredibly bland or one-dimensional.

New stages and items are neat, though there is a bug with one of the new items that causes you to become invulnerable, unable to pick up items, and have random items multiplied.

They'll probably address the bugs, but the survivors feel rather mediocre and could use a second pass. Over all it's cool if you like ROR2, but for this price tag currently not worth it.

Early Access Review
An incredibly fun and honestly way too addicting sequel to what was an already super fun factory game.

Having played the original game I was a little sceptical about the platforms, but they made it so much more fun. Coming up with more and more compact and efficient designs to use as few platforms as possible while still making your "platform bricks" slot together nicely is incredibly fun and rewarding.

Few games have made me felt as satisfied as when I pick some of my blueprints, slot them together and create a factory for a complex piece in a matter of minutes.

If you're not 100% sure you want to play a factory game, give this one a shot. It's extremely approachable and won't overwhelm you, and even imperfect factories will work just fine for beginners since resources are infinite.

Dawntrail is the expansion that finally made me quit the game for the first time since I started playing.

The story of Dawntrail is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, and the writing quality has dropped significantly compared to previous expansions. It's almost entirely centered around Wuk Lamat, who despite being the character with the most dialogue throughout the expansion also somehow receives the least growth and development.

Aside from the story, the graphical update, new environments and battle content are pretty solid and enjoyable. The updated fight design is pretty good and shows the developers are capable of coming up with new and interesting mechanics. Unfortunately, since you will be doing the majority of fights a dozen times over in any content, they will inevitably become stale as they are completely spreadsheetable and follow the same patterns, with nothing being done to shake things up a little.

No real changes have been made to the usual side content such as FATEs, treasure maps, job quests, allied society quests and the like. It's still all the same flavour of formulaic gameplay.

Job changes are pretty hit or miss, with a lot more homogenization taking place. AST has had its card RNG stripped away, BLM has been simplified, and because Pictomancer was too OP, they nerfed its gimmick into the ground and made it a DPS loss compared to the regular 1-2-3 rotation. It really feels like they're intent on just making bandaid fixes until the promised job rework in 8.0.

Cosmic Exploration and Occult Crescent were supposed to bring more long-term engagement, but arrived almost a year after Dawntrail dropped, and were both incredibly repetitive. Cosmic exploration is just a leve carousel that dropped lacking QoL features (which Yoshi P. acknowledged they knew about???), with hardly any meaningful rewards.

Occult Crescent removed the exploration aspect of the exploration zone, replacing it with a non-stop FATE & CE grind and conflicting design. Phantom jobs are the main gimmick of the zone, but you're encouraged to immediately drop a max level phantom job to pick up the next to not waste experience. There is no pity system for the relic grind or soul shards. Got bad luck? Sucks to be you.

Overall, if you enjoyed previous expansions for the story, you may find Dawntrail to be a disappointment. If your enjoyment lies elsewhere and you don't mind the same old content formula, you'll probably still have an okay time.

Honestly the most fun coop game I have played in a long time. Excellent to play in short or long sessions, with friends or strangers alike. My only complaint would be microtransactions, but you can earn currency for free quite easily just by playing, and have plenty of things to unlock while doing so, so you do not have to spend a single cent.

The developers also listened to players during the PSN account situation which threatened to make the game unplayable for people in certain countries, and pose a general inconvenience.

Puts every other RPG I've played to shame with its level of detail, depth and storytelling.

Good game to pass some time. Doesn't take too long to get the hang of, the different unlockable characters mix things up so you can have a pretty good time.

Except Greezy. Greezy makes me want to pull my hair out.

Gets frequent updates, developers definitely care and address issues that arise.
