While I'm giving this a positive review I will say this. I do find it ironic and bit BS that this game used AI voice actors. Embark Studios and Nexon have the money to hire real actors to voice these lines. For game about fighting AI and saving the last of humanity, it's weird that they chose to do this. But it also personally annoys me that they are charging microtransactions in this game and still chose to use AI actors and I'm guessing will continue do so for the future of this game.

Now what do I actually think of the game outside of this, I think it's fantastic. I don't care for extraction shooters, "Hunt Showdown" is really the only one I've truly enjoyed and that's due to its world building. But ARC Raiders has found a good balance to appeal to more of a casual crowd and a competitive one. I think the world building in this game can rival "Hunt Showdown" if given time and development throughout it's life cycle. Right now it's good but the characters and so called "quests" aren't really telling me about the world. How you learn about this world is based on how you interact with it. And the atomsphere of this game is just oozing with enviromental storytelling. The gunplay is also very solid. This is the same team that made, "The Finals" and they can make a third person shooter just as smooth and responsive as their free to play FPS that I've loved putting time into. Unlike "The Finals" though, this game is actually fun to play solo. How solo play works is great, a ton of players as of writing this review are friendly and will team up to help take down bosses that are roaming the world. It's a great way for the game to feel alive and it's cool seeing players really get into the world similarly to "Helldivers 2". My interactions with players in solo queus have been memorable and already have made some of my favorite moments of gaming this year. Now with duos and trios, you will encounter more aggressive players that are looking for a fight. I will say that trios for sure is going to be a blood bath while duos is maybe a 50/50 on what sort of players you will meet out there.

However even if you and your friends get wiped, the best thing ARC Raiders has going for it, is it's free load-out mechanic. This mechanic allows you to get a free load-out where you'll be given 1 weapon, a fair amount of healing supplies and equipment to use to help get you back up on your feet. The looting and crafting too is not overwhelming so losing your gear in a run doesn't feel like a complete step backwards. It's a punishing game for sure but it also manages to find a way to as equally as forgiving too.

Overall, Embark Studios has the next big game on their hands. By no means will this be like the next "CSGO", "LoL", "Fortnite" or "COD". But this can easily retain a solid playerbase and community similar to games like "Apex Legends", "Deadlock" (which could grow to be a titan of a game), or "Hunt Showdown".

There was a moment on my 5th or 6th run where it clicked it with me. Where I need to go, what I need to survive, and the route I will take to get there. And from the moment, this game has been addicting to play. The FromSoft combat in a rougelite format works perfectly together. I’ve had fun playing every character and trying out different weapons with them to see how broken I can become during a run. The devs are working quickly to fine tune this game as well. They’re clearly listening to player feedback and since the game came out fully finished, they’ve been able to adjust the game to suit any post launch criticism that play base has found. It’s probably why the reviews on steam went from “Mixed” to “Very Positive” in a short time. Overall a very fun addition to the Fromsoftware catalogue of Soulsborne games. Not a deep or complex one like their Dark Souls games or the base Elden Ring game that this is based off of. But fun nonetheless that you can definitely get 40-50 hours out of it or more depending on how much of a completionist you are.

I'm in a cave with one battery left with my flashlight. It's been 2 hours and I haven't gotten out but at least I found the shovel. 10/10

Still dealing with some port issues. But damn when this game works it is one hell of a fun time. Perfect blend of strategy and card game mechanics.
