The entire concept of being able to base gameplay using your songs is great and what draws most people in.
But after actually playing a handful of songs no matter how different they all ended up feeling mostly the same, with the gameplay being as simple as it is you'd want the concept to make up for it but it just dosn't do enough, I attempted many high bpm songs with loud sections expecting the gameplay to match when in reality it just ended up being the same as any other song just with brighter flashing lights and a few more enemies.

In terms of the songs already included with the game they fair a little bit better but still suffer from the under utilization of the conecpt. This game could have been leagues better if they had just gone further with the idea of the gameplay being tied to the music, and not just having more enemies and strobes.

Disappointing to say the least.

Oh boy where do you start with darkest dungeon.
The game is incredibly tantalizing to say the least, either you love it or you hate it.

Darkest dungeon is a rougelike that promises to take every ounce of your soul with it.
The core gameplay is pretty good and decently engaging, the atmopshere is absolutely fantastic, the visuals, the soundtrack, the narration, even the smaller ambient noises all work together to create an insane feeling of dread or triumph depending on the situation.

That being said, if you plan on playing without any mods this game can be a serious grind, leveling up, curing stress and ilness, gathering heirlooms. It all takes a while.

The game is incredibly polarizing as you could have incredible triumphant moments of victory as one of your party members lands a lucky crit or a virtue roll, but that can go both ways. You can have a member go insane despite the odds, miss one too many moves, or have a boss crit you at the wrong time, and losing a character you put in a lot of time into can take the wind out of your sails.

In summary - Darkest dungeon is a fantastic turn-based roguelike, it will drive not only your characters mad but you aswell, buy only if you're up for the grueling task.

I originally found the game through a short that broadly explained the concept, upon hearing it I thought the idea of having to decipher another language was incredible, and purchased the game.

Getting past the confusion at the start, The deciphering itself just fell flat in my opinion with certain words having near to no impact other than appearing in a single sentence and having no narrative connection whatsoever.

The days themselves lack real things to do, with most of your actions having no impact on the ending.

In my personal opinion - amazing concept, poor execution.

Are you a fan of the bloons series?
Do you like watching numbers go up?
Do you enjoy your processor setting on fire?
Did you escape from an insane asylum?

If you said yes to any of these questions this is just the game for you.

It's a neat little roguelike, though I do reccommend the game its far from perfect.

The first few times you play I think its a fantastic experience, stealthing around enemies collecting artifacts and finding new spells and items to mess around with and try out. Where it starts falling short is in terms of replay, the enemy behaviour is very basic and incredibly easy to get around after you understand it, making the game less so a stealthy exploration roguelike and more of a mad-dash to the end avoiding almost everything, as a lot of the mechanics are half-baked and very surface level.

Overall good game, it's a good experience i find myself going back to once in a while, but, I would definetly not buy again for full price.

Early Access Review
Playing this game is like doing crack on a skateboard down a volcano while juggling venomous snakes.

Would reccommend.
