Keeping in mind I've got a high-end PC, a lot of reviews are going harsh on optimisation without giving leeway for patches over the next few days. Chances are those reviews won't be edited once the game is patched, but if performance doesn't improve for low end machines I'll pull the positive review.

I do think there should've been another short Steam Early Access period (as well as the Patreon) to get QOL feedback from non-Patreon users, but at it's core the game's fun and has a lot of potential! The updates that come next will be make-or-break, if you're still on the fence come back to it in a few weeks/months and see how the reviews look then

Overall there's more than enough to justify Hades 2, but it has its flaws. Visuals are stunning and every run is mechanically unique.

Non-specific spoilers:
Edit: The ending was updated and improved a lot, although there's still some plot holes that could only be solved with an entire re-write.

The ending wasn't bad, but not well executed. There's a lot of information to discover post-credits which on the surface gives the game more value, but enough is left for later that you can only think about plot holes/odd changes in consistency while the credits roll. For how major a disappointing ending is, I can see where the negative reviews come from.

In a story-based game, saying "story ending aside, the game is incredible" is a LOT to ask. That being the tipping point is really preference, but you can't deny it does really well on most other fronts.

I'm not really sure what a lot of these reviews expect. "Bad writing" is just 1980's cheese, the entire theme of the game. That aside, it's a sandbox with even more polished Dishonored mechanics. It's nothing special, but it's fun.

The best way to play this game is going in 100% blind.

If you like deckbuilding, roguelites, or lore, buy this game. Don't watch any trailers, just look at the 100k positive reviews and jump in.
