Homefront The Revolution had an abysmal launch, being riddled with bugs, and was all-in-all one of the most underperforming AAA titles of 2016. A year after release though, most of these issues seem to be fixed up. I did encounter a few, once or twice during my playtime objectives would escort missions during the singleplayer bug out, and then during co-op the mission Triage would not spawn the enemies needed to finish the mission (happened to a friend as well), so it is not entirely bug-free. However, by and large this game has been quite polished up. I didn’t suffer any gamebreaking bugs (crashing, something that would force me to restart a playthrough, etc…)

I was disappointed to find out that it was not a direct sequel to the 2012 game, but more of a spiritual successor. The setting is still what I enjoyed from that game so it was not a huge deal to me.

Graphics for this game are beautiful, as most games that run on CryEngine are. All of the areas of the map look and feel unique as a result, which makes for a quite immersive experience.

Gameplay is extremely similar to Far Cry 3 and 4, if you found yourself enjoying the combat and game mechanics in that I would say that you would likely find the same things to enjoy here.

Story/Plot was ok, it is a pretty absurd premise to begin with (Korean occupation of the United States), so I would say that with that in mind I found it enjoyable for a playthrough. I did think that some of the characters could have been developed a little more (and some do during the course of the DLCs), and that the Koreans could have been used a little better by giving them a direct antagonist in the story.

Co-op multiplayer is surprisingly fun, definitely a nice addition, but I dont think its worth buying this game just for this alone as it is borderline impossible to find a match through matchmaking, If you can convince some friends to play it with you though, it is a fun time.

Overall I’d rate the game a 7/10. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this game, Sure it is far from perfect, but I enjoyed it and definitely got my money’s worth out of it. Especially with how cheap you can pick it up for now ($8 or thereabouts for the game and the expansion pass), I’d say it is more than worth it for that price.

Also, as mentioned above, there are three story DLCs, Voice of Freedom, Aftermath, and Beyond the Walls.

Voice of Freedom is a prologue to the story. Its short and adds a little bit of backstory, but is nothing special. 5/10

Aftermath is an epilogue to the story. Also fairly short, but enjoyable and ties up some loose ends from the singleplayer. 8/10

Beyond the Walls happens some time after the singleplayer. Is decently long, but adds the most in story content of the three DLCs. I found this to be extremely good and a great way to finish up the game. 10/10

Event[0] is a short little game with a fairly interesting backstory and premise about what happened to the crew of a now abandoned spaceship. You progress through the game by conversing with the Artificial Intelligence Kaizen, who will respond to whatever you say to him. The game itself is fairly short, maybe 3-4 hours for a first playthrough if you are reading all the logs and exploring everything, with subsequent playthroughs at maybe an hour or possibly even less once you know what to do. Therefore, while I wouldnt necessarily say it is worth it at full price, is definitely enjoyable enough on that first time playthrough to pick up because of the sense of mystery and exploration the game provides.

The Turing Test is essentially a hybrid of Portal and The Talos Principle. The game combines the Sci-Fi atmosphere, Chamber Progression, and Length (around the length of Portal 2's singleplayer) of Portal with the Story Elements, Soundtrack, and Difficulty (to an extent, it is harder than Portal but easier than TTP) of The Talos Principle. The end result is unique, something that is clearly inspired by the two former games, but still manages to be unique enough to stand on its own. I would highly recommend this game if you are a fan of either of the two other games.

Very fun strategy game. Has a huge modder community, so replay value is very high, particularly with the mod 7 Deadly Sins.
