Really cool combat and variations on upgrades. Tons of characters to choose from. Controller Menu to change inputs. already bumps this game up ahead of others.

I have to agree with most negative reviews here.

The story had too much Wuk Lamat. There was no sense of urgency. It was a different flavor. The past expansions typically had a threat to you, your friends, the planet, or an entire existence. You were the main character. EVERYTHING revolved around you. I do hope that this break has given the team more time to create a better experience in future expansions. In this one, Wuk Lamat is the hero.

Your friends RARELY show up. You hang out with Wuk Lamat basically the entire time. Wuk is the epitome of a good person, with the small flaw of confidence, which is overcome throughout the story. I honestly, felt that my friends had much better things to do instead of hanging out with the WOL.

The story showcases how you should value your family, land, culture, and friends during your time alive. Things aren't permanent. Which did touch me personally.

The rest of the game was fairly easy. The new classes were lackluster and missed the mark in catching my attention. They were messy in my eyes.
The tweaks to the classes were a bit silly. I main White Mage, and adding a button to make me use a rarely used skill was stupid. I used it just because it was there and the bonus to using it was alright, not because I wanted to. I would've preferred the removal of the original rarely used skill instead.
The idea of having skills transform to something else when used is a good idea in keeping the hotbar from overflowing with stuff to press but also adding something new to press. I play on controller.

SE, stop giving tanks self-healing. I advocate the removal of tanks having self-healing. Maybe 1 healing skill max per tank mainly to ease solo gameplay...

The world was very boring to look at. Mostly dusty lands, a small forest here or there.

It's not so bad and I do want this franchise to continue to do well for a very long time. There is bound to be missteps here and there, but time will be able to fix the issues.

I really want them to do something more with water. Swimming, boating, fishing, quests.

I honestly think, FFXIV should solidify the classes and make each one unique and focus on making awesome experiences with great writing. I'm glad gear in general is not important as it's easy to obtain, to better focus on things to do.

I also hope that SE continues to make the entire game single player/LAN/couch-coop/P2P servers, so when the game eventually has to shut down, we still have a game to play. I do hope they will sell the game in an offline mode, in the future.

An excellent mecha game.

Ignore people putting down the game for being slower compared to other AC games. The speed seems fine. I feel this may be their way of increasing accessibility, since there are many things going on at once. You must handle 4 guns with their own cooldowns, dodging, and making sure you're in proper range for your weapons to be effective. The speed of them game is enough where you can follow with your eyes and understand what is going on. I also didn't feel motion sickness, so that is a plus.
Of course there is a mod to speed things up, but do this after you beat the game normally, at your own risk.

The story is fairly basic and fairly easy to follow.

Sound design is on point. Gun sounds are amazing. Cannons sound thick and beefy. Energy weapons have their own sound.

Music? Well....nothing stood out to me. A lot of it was drowned out by gunfire and explosions. You would need your SFX volume higher than the music since there are audio cues that will help you know what is going on.

Gameplay is quick but also calculated. So there are times where if you go all out, you will have a brief moment of waiting around to attack again. This also goes for the enemy AI, which I feel can get repetitive. They either have more HP or have more speed, guns that devastate you, or tactics that counter your playstyle.

Bosses are fairly unique where fighting them can change up.

This game is mission-based. So you go into a map and complete different objectives. Every single mission has you blow something up, so don't worry. There are secrets and items to find.
You can try and S rank each mission after completing them. This is not required to collect all endings and items, just bragging rights.

The game is challenging, it is not impossible. Learning the fights will be the key to success. Having the right parts help, but not required. I never felt that I needed to be more tanky, or faster. The only thing I did was change my weapons. It was mostly a comfort thing. Whatever works for you, is what you go with and still be able to win.

Just because FROM made the game doesn't automatically mean that it's a souls-like. You must learn the fights in souls-like games. AC6 you need some plan to be able to handle the encounter, you do need to learn the fight to some extent, but it's not as strict. You can always buy different parts, swap them out for something more effective or change up your playstyle. The game is more flexible in terms how you deal with encounters.

There are plenty of epic moments.

You will spend tons of time costumizing your mech to min-max your powers. Everything has a balance. You want to go faster, use lighter weapons. Can't carry everything, use better legs. Not enough energy for that laser cannon, Swap out a part that is eating up your juice. There are so many things you can do to prioritize what you want your mech to do. BUT again, everything has a balance, you can't carry the strongest/heaviest guns and be the fastest thing on the battlefield. Think about weight and energy, requirements.
You will also have fun coloring and putting decals on your mech too.

Don't give up on the Helicopter and Balteus. Things open up and you will be able to have more fun with parts.

I enjoyed the game very much. It has been a long while since I have been able to enjoy an arcade racer that wasn't marred by silly physics.
I completed the game, unlocking all racers and tracks. Though I did not go so far as to suffer through some of the Joker events to get gold.

Basic Gameplay

Ok, so the game has a drift mechanic where you press the drift button to start sliding around corners. This fills a boost gauge to be released for some nice speed. You're locked into that drift direction until you let go of the drift button. When your car starts to straighten out, that is when your boost gauge is used to give you a burst of speed.

Gameplay can be nuanced where you can hit the brakes to turn a little sharper and be able to switch drift directions with quick button presses in winding roads to preserve your boost gauge. You will need to master this technique in order to complete the game. Some challenges are difficult.

Options
You can change and remap buttons to control the game. There is even an option to keep the Gas pressed the entire time. There are a few other QOL options, like volume sliders for the engine sound, music, SFX, camera shake, screen wobble when turning, and so on.

XBOX button icons. I think Playstation button icons show up only if plugged into your PC.

Tracks
The tracks are varied but don't get too wild. They do give a nice challenge. Some are fun to go through and others are a bit normal.

A few tracks require tweaking. They should be done ASAP before people start getting good at the game and will have to redo the race again after the change has been made.

Joker Events are the "fun" stuff that cars must complete in order to unlock all racers. Luckily, there is wiggle room by not getting all golds in all the Joker Events, but had to get gold in ALL normal events. I say "fun" because these are events that have you do certain tasks. Like dodge the racers, drift to game points, or pop balloons. A few of these are frustrating and unfun, and require perfect performance to earn a gold on. I went as far as just getting Silvers depending on how frustrating they were. I got gold on a bunch of them.

Racers/Cars
You have 12 racers to choose from with options to slightly tweak them. These stats are not explained, and is up to you to figure out what they do and mean.

The characters are bland. They all have a 3-4 voice lines and you could get a sense of what they are like. You have interviews with each of them but those are short one-liners brimming with confidence and don't add any personality to what we get from the voice lines. Players like to identify with the characters. Especially when many of them hail from different parts of the world, but this becomes a bit frustrating when your favorite character can't complete a race.

There are going to be times where you must switch racers to complete certain tracks, this is a design flaw, and essentially makes other racers untouched since others can do what they do but better.... ALL racers should be viable to complete the game, but this is not so.

I would say in essence, cars are variations of wight classes. The Weight stat cannot be changed in the game. So if you want a car that is more maneuverable then pick a lighter car, but then have to contend with other stats that may not be to your liking, but this also means the character themselves are meaningless and so are the interviews.

Car designs are pretty lackluster too. They all look pretty much the same.

AI racers are a nuisance and wild with what they do. They are there to just steal your boost and slow you down by getting in your way. Hitting lapped cars is a huge detriment, fun just to hear the voice line a few times, but avoid them or else you will lose a huge chunk of speed.

User Interface
I really don't like the GUI/UX. Many items are unlabeled when they are selected or not selected. A lot of the design is superfluous, but nice looking. A lot of the "rules" change depending on where you are in menus. Nothing is consistent. There are so many things I would have tweaked for the sake of ease of use and readability.

Music
Is pretty good. Some tracks can get a little grinding after a while, but mostly good. Tee Lopes had a track in this game too, but he seems to have been removed from the project. I feel this is a plus as his style of music does not fit the theme of the game.

Art
Pixel graphics are fine, not amazing. It's a mix of camera angles, 3D, and sprites all in one.

Final Lap
The game is really fun and should be picked up. There are some bugs, tweaks, and design choices that require attention to make this game shine even more. I would hazard the game is not finished, and the devs are still working on improving stuff (I hope).

The game is still unfinished. I am still in the dark with what the sole dev is doing.

Honestly, the dev should've worked on this game on their free time when they were close to finishing, then put it on early access. Yet, they still full released it in it's early access state. Going full release only to keep working on an unfinished unpolished game a year later is not kool.

I look forward to the game going gold, but right now, I do not recommend it.

I beat this game in 7.5 hours on Normal mode.

A very fun game reminiscent of Donkey Kong Country. You play a rabbit that inadvertently unleashes an evil doer and your bro gets their spirit trapped inside a jeweled ring. So it's now up to you to save Carrotland.

Options Menu
  • 3 save slots

  • Resolution settings
  • V-sync
  • Volume sliders - Master, Music, and Effects
  • And thank the carrot gods....custom control settings! (for Xbox icons only)

Gameplay
  • You play as Kaze. She has a hover, spin attack, and ground pound. Essentially a Dixie Kong clone.
  • The platforming is very good and challenging.
  • Controls are spot on.
  • There are no lives or continues. You can keep trying the level for as long as you like. A big improvement where in older games, losing all your lives and continues only wasted your time with continue screens, the collections of lives, and restarting the game to begin right where you left off with 3 more lives. This does not make the game easy by any means.
  • Along your adventure you collect red gems, golden letters that spell "KAZE", and hidden bonus stages. Each counted towards your collection board for each stage.
  • You make use of masks that are forced to be used for sections of the game. They are fun none the less. This can be equated to the Squawks, Mine Cart, and Engarde. I don't think the Tiger Mask has a DK equivalent.
  • You can also challenge yourself by beating the time trails for each stage and clearing the stages without taking a hit.
  • There is a Casual mode where you have 3 hits before dying and more checkpoints, and a normal mode with 2 hits and 1-2 checkpoint(s).
There aren't many mechanics if any. Cept for maybe weighted platforms, which I didn't really care for. Oh, and the on and off light switches.

The biggest gripe I have for this game is that in Normal mode, it can be a bit gauntlet-y. Grabbing a checkpoint only feels like you got it 1/3 to 1/4 of the way. So dying can be a bit frustrating after spending long jaunts only to die to the next hazard. Perhaps Casual mode can be a little more forgiving but I did not play that mode.

My favorite moment was the level with air currents that blew you up and you can control your height with your hover.

Art Design

All the art is very nice to look at. The animations on Kaze and everything else is great, and gives plenty of silliness.

While you go through 4 different lands that have a theme, they don't really. Once you enter the stages, they will vary. So if you enter the snow land, you won't encounter all snow or ice themed levels. You actually encounter lava filled landscapes, and dark ruins filled with brambles. I found it a little odd to be honest. They had the assets to create perhaps 2-3 more lands to actually make every land be it's own theme. I have a feeling they had to cut a lot of bosses, and thus we have this sort of mashup. I also hazard a guess that they also ran out of time or budget.

I do miss a map screen to select your levels. Instead, you walk on a flat straight path to select the level with cute dioramas.

Music
The music can feel a bit...I don't know, generic? It has it's charm and it is not bad music but I wasn't jamming out to any particular track. The music is fine. I suppose I was spoiled by the legend, David Wise.

Conclusion
A simple platformer but still great and plenty of challenge. Definitely pick this one up. I'm sure if the dev team had a bigger budget and more time, they would give you the full adventure with more lands, levels, mechanics, and bosses. Right now, it's a quick polished adventure.
I recommend this game because there was a lot of love put into it. The quality of the controls, levels, and style is top notch. I feel calling it a clone is in poor taste because it stands to be the best DKC "clone". Who doesn't want more different flavors of DKC platforming in their life?

The game is at a very low price, extremely simple, graphics and sounds are weak, art not really appealing to look at, one can easily turn this game on and waste some time. A lot of time if you're the type to not stop in the middle of a session.

The addicting part is where with each level you grow in power, and it keeps becoming more crazy. It's the feeling of accumulation of power.

I played it this many hours because it took me a couple of tries to figure out what was fun to do. Once you find the specific thing you can win nearly every time without moving. This is where it got boring and pointless. You will always try for the same items and upgrades to do the same thing again because you know it is effective. You might tweak something here or there in an attempt to make it even better but, it still results in the same effect. You become a bullet hell lots of monsters die and tons of gems lay about on the floor.

Because of this simple formula, an oil spill of clones and knock-offs spawned. At least some of them put in the effort with good art and effects. If I were to play this type of game again, I would hold off till something of quality comes along.

I played this until I beat the game. The game is unfinished and needs a lot of polish. It has has been 2 years since the last patch (2022). Safe to say, the game has been abandoned.

The game play is fun and fast paced. Many items and strats to mess with.
Each enemy has their own attack patterns.

There are many things that are missing, not working, has typos, the wrong information, and bugs.

While the game is fun for what you get. It can get repetitive. I'm not sure if I would recommend since I'm sure there are no fixes coming it's way.
I don't recommend because it's unpolished.
I would recommend when it's on sale.

The game is good in terms of solving puzzles, art style, and music. The atmosphere was also very well done in creating the mood.

The puzzles were very well crafted.

The game features a rotation mechnic, where you rotate "the world" for a different view of the land. This is mixed with 2D and 3D things. Where a 2D object will disappear depending on the angle. Things will reveal themselves from a different angle of rotation. The rotation is automatic, whereas you push the rotate button and it rotates 90 degrees.

The only negative thing I have to say, is that the game quickly devolved into "jump up to a place and rotate 4+ times before moving on and quickly repeat a short distance away". You do this the entire game.
If you don't, you will be missing out on secrets, easter eggs, solutions to puzzles, puzzles, collectibles, and so on. This could be a turn off. If there were markers to show you where puzzles are, then you begin to solve it. This will cut down on the constant rotation everywhere you go.
Finding the puzzle I'm sure will be part of the "exploration" people will argue. Yes, that is true. I agree to a point that the rotation was very well utilized to create interesting scenarios for the player to enjoy. The mechanic itself is used too often. I enjoyed the game more by actually solving the puzzle. This mechanic was also melded together where exploring IS the puzzle so one can move on.
I feel they have done pretty much everything surrounding the rotation mechanic.

The game was created with lots of love, and it shows all throughout.
