This game would be perfect in co-op. Unfortunately, that feature isn’t available yet, but it’s still very good and a lot of fun for anyone who loves the genre. Clearly recommended!

Valheim presents an incredible world and an ambitious concept, but my experience was marred by significant issues that hindered the overall enjoyment:

While the combat mechanics are solid, they become monotonous over time due to the lack of variety in enemy encounters and strategies. It feels like the same fights over and over again, which quickly diminishes the excitement.

The game leans far too heavily on tedious farming. Everything—progression, crafting, and even basic survival—revolves around repetitive resource gathering. This turns the experience into a chore rather than a rewarding adventure. Farming. Farming. And more farming.

Valheim suffers from inconsistent and frustrating gameplay loops. For example, spending hours sailing across vast oceans only to find no meaningful reward feels like a waste of time. These moments make the game feel more frustrating than fun, leaving players wondering why the experience needs to be so grueling.

The idea behind Valheim is great, but the execution falls short. While it has its moments of beauty and immersion, these are overshadowed by the repetitive mechanics and frustrating design choices.

If you find Valheim for under €2, it might be worth considering. But at a higher price point, be prepared for a frustrating experience unless you’re willing to mod the game heavily. The vanilla version can feel like "shooting yourself in the foot" with its unbalanced and punishing design.

Pros:
Fun gameplay — especially if you like exploring and running across the map constantly.
Can be quite challenging at times, which keeps things interesting.
Great pixel art and atmosphere.

Cons:
No character customization as of October 28, 2025.
Updates are very slow.
Still in early access after 3 years.

FFS I bought it 11th Dec and on 16th Dec is on sale at 30%.
Steam are unable to refund me because I exceed the 2 hours, and ppl get the game at 50€ instead of 70€.
